  1. great video! it occurred to me while listening to it- what if eric from the pandaemonium raids ends up as the watcher? both are jailers and have lots of (literal or metaphorical) chains imagery around them, and it would put both themis and eric on the moon, likely not remembering the other (from not knowing themis is/becomes elidibus on the watcher's part).

of course throws a wrinkle in the "claudien is a shard of eric" theory, but it could be that the watcher is a copy+paste of eric's soul, made before he was reborn the first time, and claudien is the true shard. who knows! but it can't be a coincidence that zodiark's jailer's true identity is unknown, and, at the same time as that question is in the air, the raids are dealing with the jailing immensely powerful creatures

  2. One thing I noted about the Watcher the first time I saw them was their white robes. It's noted later on that outside of the seat of Elidibus, that white robes are generally reserved for those who have stepped down from public office and signifies the wearer as a voice of reason and impartiality. It could well be that the Watcher, alongside Venat, was a retired ancient from an office of significance that had not at the time returned to the star. Whilst this doesn't particularly help us with who the Watcher truly is, it does narrow the field down to a field of people who, due to the nature of their work, would likely have been skilled, powerful and knowledgeable.

  3. My thoughts as to who the Watcher is honestly could be very simplified as 5.2. We see a projection whose very concerned for Venat, and given how the Loporrits speak of the creation of the Moon as well, it seems the Moon was created only a small bit before Hydaelyn was summoned and Zodiark bound, if not only mere weeks at most. The Loporitts make mention of meeting Venat proper after all, and the Watcher if I had to guess was this man from the projection. He hints he was made as a sort of simulacrum of someone, meaning he differs from the rest of the shades we've seen so far as well. If I had to guess fully though, I think the name of this person has yet to be revealed in full.

  4. I think he's similar to the shade of Hythlodaeus we meet on the moon – he was sacrificed to bring Hydalyn into being, and what's left of his life force is connected to her, so when Hydalyn dies, his soul will finally return to the star and be put to rest

  5. I often wonder if he's the ally of Venat we see in the projection asking why it has to be her to become Hydaelyn's core. They seemed close and aligned in their goals. It would make sense to create a simulacrum of someone like that. But I can't know for sure.
