you forgot about msq requirenments to unlock poetic (and lvl80) gear and that there will be poetic vendors in major cities for their respective level range as well
Honestly, you really don't even need to buy gear before 50. Do your class quests, do you MSQ, and do The Smith quests at level 15 and you should literally never have to buy gear with Gil for battle classes.

The Rowena associates in the base game cities (level 50) and Foundation (level 60) sell the tomestone sets via a much easier to navigate interface. Pick role and a set and it shows everything in one list rather than mixed together over multiple tabs. I much prefer using them for that level range.
