  1. Didn't we learn the correct pronunciation way back in StormBlood? It was when we asked Hancock about the whereabouts of Gosetsu and Yuguri. It was also one of the first times we ever heard Au Ra spoken in a cutscene.

  2. When voice actors are given scripts for big projects like tv series or games, they aren't often given a lot of direction. While we know the lore and story inside and out because we're watching cutscenes sequentially, a lot of the voice lines may actually be performed out of order, with no information given about the context of a scene, the greater political climate influencing the characters, and yes, even how to pronounce race names. Colin Ryan (Alphinaud, Heavensward+) often talks about how he and the cast are given little direction about pronunciation because the director wants to see what the voice talent comes up with to give certain words their unique take. In short, there is no correct way of pronouncing a lot of FFXIV names, because dialect in and out of game makes them unique. You can say them however you want!

  3. No no, this is why english is FREAKING POINTLESS, WDYM YOU NEED SOMEONE TO TELL YOU BEFORE HAND HOW A WORD IS PRONOUNCED, WHAT KIND OF SHIT RULES DOES IT HAVE IF IT DOESN'T ALLOW YOU TO KNOW HOW TO PRONOUNCED A WORD BY JUST LOOKING AT IT???
