I thought it was his accent
Nah fam, it's just them being British; it's definitely still "Row-Ga-Din" and I refuse to hear otherwise!
" that's just Colin being British…" 😅😅
British Alert
Lol it was in FF11 lol
Then why is the "e" there?! What is it for?!!!!!! It should be another "o." Oh, the humanity!
Didn't we learn the correct pronunciation way back in StormBlood? It was when we asked Hancock about the whereabouts of Gosetsu and Yuguri. It was also one of the first times we ever heard Au Ra spoken in a cutscene.
I feel tricked. Betrayed. And quite possibly bamboozled. WHAT EVEN IS REAL ANYMORE, JESSE?!
Au’ra is actually pronounced aahh•ree
I hope that helps
WHY IS THERE A FUCKING E IN THE NAME IF IT'S ROO????
My lil' character blurb on my Roe has been "Get Roe'd Like a Boat" for a few years now.
No Dawntrail cutscene is making me change it.
reminder that Colin pronounces Y'shtola "Yi'shtola" more often than "Ya'shtola", especially early on in the MSQs, where the latter is the correct Seeker of the Sun pronunciation.
When voice actors are given scripts for big projects like tv series or games, they aren't often given a lot of direction. While we know the lore and story inside and out because we're watching cutscenes sequentially, a lot of the voice lines may actually be performed out of order, with no information given about the context of a scene, the greater political climate influencing the characters, and yes, even how to pronounce race names. Colin Ryan (Alphinaud, Heavensward+) often talks about how he and the cast are given little direction about pronunciation because the director wants to see what the voice talent comes up with to give certain words their unique take. In short, there is no correct way of pronouncing a lot of FFXIV names, because dialect in and out of game makes them unique. You can say them however you want!
Now my character named Joe Roegadyn isn’t as good as
It had to came up before.. right? I could swear I heard it. Maybe Stromblood when they were looking for Gosetsu?
i think its just the british accent
my big pronunciation thing was the game went 4 levels and 2 zones before voicing “Xbr'aal” even once.
The best part about this rant is that afterwards he hears a name in a voiced cutscene, later mispronounces it and then complains again. Like Jesse, voiced cutscenes are not the problem here.
Where is Skyrim?
…..I'm still pronouncing it with a "Row" sound.
I avoid Limsa and all that guff because of all the Welsh
Jesse doesn't even say it like Alphinaud does …
But, they speak British english..
I mean…I won’t stop pronouncing it how everyone else has for years. Same goes for Zidane. It’s Zi-Dane, not Zi-dan.
Isn’t it just being pronounced in a British accent? It is ROW, but think of how a British person would say it. It’s still ROW
thank god they finally said it in a cutscene, now people stopped thinking i'm crazy for saying roogadyn
The brit-lingo goes hard with pronouncing again
I refuse to say roogadin
1000% just colin being British cause we hear Hancock say it as Row 3 expacks ago
Why did you think Moenbryda is pronounced "Moon-bree-da"?
Sadly it's not Merlwyb Blowfish-win.
Eh, i wouldnt take any one pronounciation as gospel. Erenville (literal turali native) tells the geoup about cenotes, and alisaie IMMEDIATELY pronounces it significantly different
EVERYTHING WE KNOW IS WRONG! BLACK IS WHITE, UP IS DOWN AND SHORT IS LONG!!
Yeah it’s Germanic-based, so the oe is an “ooooo” sound
Not my Dutch ass calling them 'roos' for years cuz our 'oe' is pronounced 'oo' no no no
I mean the characters have accents. So you cant even trust the cs.
No no, this is why english is FREAKING POINTLESS, WDYM YOU NEED SOMEONE TO TELL YOU BEFORE HAND HOW A WORD IS PRONOUNCED, WHAT KIND OF SHIT RULES DOES IT HAVE IF IT DOESN'T ALLOW YOU TO KNOW HOW TO PRONOUNCED A WORD BY JUST LOOKING AT IT???
