  1. I felt this boredom on 1.0 , ARR and HW, what brought me back was Stormblood because they brought in new and better content, the raids were fun and nostalgia was the key with omega raids, ivalice raids and most important Eureka. I enjoyed it and made me stay sub and Shadowbringers also the story and Bozja was fun too that it kept me sub. Sadly I quit again and because they do need more midcore content and open world raiding like in New World or FF11, but i want them to try to leave the memory puzzle raids from WoW alone and create more fun unpredictable raids.

Also I've seen this kind of action during Seekers of Adoulin and content was slow and boring and later we found out FF14 was the big surprise. So what if they are working another FF MMO? But most likely not. Lol knowing Square-Enix is trying to figure out the trend.

  2. The level of people who have been angsting or burning out has been odd lately and I really can't tell if its new people or vets but I feel like vets should know the cadence of this game by now. Personally been loving these patches and the amount of future-proofing they have done

  3. The upflow is normally the 5 to 5.5 patch which is the patches coming up the problem is that there less to do each expansion because you completed everything in other expansions and this time due to relic being just currency bought it made that even worse because there no new content to come back to because criterion dungeons did not land on people. Which is why you see a larger drop then normal. That and there are alot of good games this year.

  4. I'm wondering if the people that are worried about the game "possibly dying" are the ones that came to ffxiv during the tail end of Shadowbringers… even though at that time Yoshi P said how strange it was for ffxiv to be at its peak right before a new expansion drop. What we are dealing with right now is normal. People will break away, come back for the last two msq patches and possibly other content if it's interesting enough then take another break until Dawntrail releases. The devs encourage breaks to avoid burn out. The game is not dying, the expansion is just about over.

  5. I am one of those that took a break after EW. Tried the new patches and wasn't really interested for the content. I am having fun playing other games and plan to be back sometime in the spring, getting ready for the next expansion. Honestly, I have been playing a few "dead games" and I really can't tell the difference other than there are less people running around the worlds. I can still find people to play with and actually it's kind of fun when you got most the worlds to yourself. Very few games have actually died in this genre, Warhammer, SWG, a few others. Games like EQ though are still going on and getting new expansions. FFXIV will end when SE wants it to end. bun-bun

  6. I think we need to remember that FFXIV doesn't just compete with other MMOs, it competes with other games. And this year has been nuts for game releases. Not sure if it's a good or a bad year to pick to be slower on content than normal.

Shadowbringers was also an oddity. FFXIV was good at the right time. WoW ate a bullet with Shadowlands, and mid-covid pandemic, people were looking for something to do online.

Also, a lot of the negativity is coming from WoW players who are used to WoW constantly trying to give them something to do. FFXIV is not he kind of game you want to grind on, and Endwalker has been even worse than normal I've noticed. I think you're going to see people come back to grind stuff for the end of the expansion and to be ready for Dawntrail.

  7. Microsoft is in talks with both Square Enix and Sega and most likely they'll form a partnership similar to how Microsoft partnered with Electronic Arts and Ubisoft. And both companies are earning billions for having their own services on the Xbox and PC platform under gamepass core.

  8. For me it's the boring jobs and fights below savage that stop me from logging in more often. I want more mid-core content that's not pathetically easy and fun jobs that feel different.

  9. I think people are really misattributing things to burnout. Anecdotally in my friend group, FCs, and statics it's not burnout — it's that people want to play the game but the game hasn't given us good repeatable content to grind in this expansion like there has been in previous ones. There really isn't that much to do at level cap in the game, unfortunately; so for folks who are all caught up on battle content who don't want to do fishing achievements, there's not a ton to engage in in Endwalker.

We're seeing people be more vocal about this criticism simply because there's more players. Frankly, I think it's healthy (and good) that people are willing to engage in good faith criticism of the game.

  10. Bun bun : XIV means a lot to me. Me and my wife have spent countless hours bonding together in the game and just having a great time and i imagine some day my daughter will want to play bc she already ask questions about the game and seems somewhat interested. I would love to be able to mix 2 people with a trust but sadly I don’t see it happening. The thing that gives me pause about XIV is just coming off of a ten year story like idk if i have a other ten years in me. What is my life going to be like in ten years idk? Do I really want to invest that time when I may not see the end of that journey? I would prefer smaller stories not big massive decade long ones.

  11. I do think there are problems with FFXIV. Party finder is in a really bad place IMO. I think giving more midcore content combine with some minor tweaks to how part finder works can easily fix these issues so hopefully SE is listening.

  12. My girlfriend is getting into this game but its become frustrating for me and her when I can no longer participate in her activities because she has to do it solo. They really should have the ability to play this with others. Maybe increase the difficulty of an activity if your worried its too easy but seeing as they have an easy mode for these duties that shouldn't really be a factor. Also, agree that they need to reevaluate the subscription model. At the very least let me pause my sub time.

  13. I think in an attempt to attract more players they have eroded the mmo out of the game. This IS NOT BURNOUT. The longevity of patches is lower than its ever been. It doesnt feel like an mmo anymore. Is start to feel more like destiny except they conned me into paying a monthly sub

  14. It's definitely the new players and the loners. The people in my fc since 3.0 are still here, but our fc is still our hang out place. All the wow players we got who jumped on the hype train are now off doing something else.

bunbun: Yoshi P already talked about making a F2P MMO. He said if he would do so, then he would focus on housing and lock housing items and cosmetics behind a pay wall. I think he knows the secret to FF14 is player housing / community events. The story is just a bonus.

  15. Whats up is they ragebaiting for views and that's it. The proof to me is that these issues has been there for years but they relatively kept quiet about them. But now that they've realizes negativity sells, they just complain.

Sure it does actually bring in the views, at the cost of their integrity that is. As a viewer thats a turn off.
