Sad but true reality is that core char dying gives meaning to danger as now you don't know if X character will survive Y situation giving it stakes.
It'd be good for the story to have one Scion axed soonish (to empower future danger situations) but i could not pick any one of them which i guess makes them even better for it since i would not wish for them to departure.
I legitimally thought haurchefant was evil and going to betray me during the main story quest, right up until he died, i was like..oh i guess he wasn't a bad guy then? Because of that whole thing with the elves at the beginning of heavensward, i thought he was like an insider working for them because he seemed suspisious somehow.
