[FFXIV] Sage Sprout MESSES UP and gets KICKED? (+Commentary)

TLDW: This was supposed to be an ordinary run of the Mt. Gulg (79) dungeon from the Shadowbringers expansion of Final Fantasy XIV. I was grinding through the Shadowbringers dungeons to level my Sage from 70-80 to start doing Endwalker content since my main hit 90 already. I admit I’m not the best Sage in the game, but does it warrant being kicked? Let me know any advice you have for me as I’m trying my best to be a healer among all this healer strike drama I’ve been seeing lately. Thanks for tuning in!

  1. i might as well give some advice as someone who plays sage very frequently in dungeons

sage plays very different from the other healers as you are trying to prevent damage from coming out rather than heal said damage. that’s why your toolkit has a bunch of shields and mitigations. the main way i play sage is i play it like a tank (i dunno if you’ve played a tank before), i try to have a mit rotation going that’ll get me through the pull. an example one that i use would be:

    e. diag before the pull starts -> haima/panhaima (whichever is off cd) + kerachole -> taurachole + physis II (once the first two mits run out)

most of the time, that will handle the entire pull. and while you’re doing this, you want to dps as much as possible. the tank was right in that kardia is your main healing. you want to try to use dyskrasia on 2+ enemies and dosis on single target. toxicon is also a dps gain on aoe if you have stacks. if you need bigger kardia heals, you can even use soteria to beef them up.

i think you can def become a good sage as the job is a lot easier than it seems. if you need more practice with this different kind of healing, i would recommend going into a lower level duty to get a better feel for the job before hopping into lvl 80+ content. and there’s also a ton of great guides that explain stuff a lot better than me haha. gl on your healer journey!
