  1. The people who bitch about story in an MMO RPG have the personality equivalent of a gas station knife collection ESPECIALLY when its a main title final fantasy game. Like bruh if you want an incoherent story go play WoW (unless you're one of the few people who read those overpriced shit books too)

EDIT: I want to see Yshtola Urianger and Alisae die. Those 3 deaths would create an amazing motivation to see Alphinaud and Thancred grow.

  2. I always thought that it would also be cool if the characters from the first came over to the source for the conclusion, and my idea has to do with them using how time can flow differently in the first vs the source. Maybe they have developed a way to travel between the shards by the time shit hits the fan in Endwalker. But I'm not a lore expert in the slightest so who knows

  3. The conflict between Hydaelyn and Zodiark was one thing but I'm wondering if the whole thing that even triggered The Final Days will also be explored or perhaps be a point in a potential future expansion/arc

  4. I cared about Papalymo but that's because I started in Gridania. Something about him and Yda's interactions endeared him a lot to me. I also cared about Elidibus, but in the sense of "what is your fucking deal man??"

You are correct about Zenos' dreams. Maybe he's a fragment of an Ascian on the Source…

  5. I feel like if anyone on the main cast is getting sent to the shadow realm, it's thancred for sure.

He's finished all his character arcs, they've set him up with a family to lose, and now he's placed in a dramatic position where he may not get the chance to see Ryne again and make good on his promise.

Infact, inb4 thancred dies and the way you break it to ryne is delivering a letter that he gave you to deliver since he can't go and do it in person.

  6. Downloading and letting it play without me actually watching so you get the view and I'll actually watch it later. I'm currently near the end of heavensward msq and don't want too many spoilers.

  7. RE: Character deaths.
The question for me is 'Who is even 'safe' to kill off, from a narrative utility standpoint?' Who still has obvious potential to grow going into EW and beyond?
Arguably that's everyone because new plotlines can always be made, but who's most likely to leave this thing in a box because they have no more hanging plot threads?

If I had to pick one core scion who may kick it, I honestly think it'll be Thancred.
His main dangling plot was his connection to Minfilia and then Ryne. Unless Ryne finds a way out of the first to join us on future adventures which can put Thancred back in a mentor role for Ryne there's only three paths for Thancred.
    1) Something new for him to have going on as a plot thread.
    2) Death.
or 3) Nothing, he just stays static, he has nothing more going on, he's just here to fill out the tank slot on Trusts and to remind you he's still with the Scions.

I personally would hate him to become option 3, and while his death would actually make me cry (I started in Ul'dah, so he's been with my WoL from the very start.) it would make sense to me. His plot threads have hit satisfying and pretty concrete conclusions, he's properly let go/grieved the loss of Minfilia and saw Ryne on the path to grow into a capable Oracle of Light. Unless EW reveals a new thread for him, he has nothing left currently going. If there's only going to be one death, it may very well be him.

On the other side of this, I do not see the twins dying at all, they both have far too much potential still, and while it would subvert expectations to actually kill one, it would be shit because it'd kill off the clear potential growth that is still there for the both of them.

  9. You know what would really hurt but I'd love to see anyway? Us regaining some of Azem's memories. Show me happy memories of time spent with Hythlodaeus and Emet. Show me baby Elidibus looking up to me with stars in his eyes. Show me what Azem has lost and make me carry that pain as I forge ahead.
