  1. the amount of youtubers that still shill for Magic Spoon is amazing… that crap is nasty, bought a pack of 5 boxes to try out many of the flavors, and they all had a nasty aftertaste to them, and hardly tasted like the flavors they where supposed to be…

  2. The first time stepping foot in places like Valkurm Dunes, Jeuno, Qufim Island, Kazham.
Waiting for an hour for a group to party with.
Going out into the wild and actually being concerned for losing a level should death come calling…..man…..what a game this was.

Made even better by those we shared it with.

  3. One of my clearest memories of playing FF11 is Sneak/Invisible myself to Jeuno from San d'Oria on White Mage and then immediately leaving to do the Chocobo license quest without making it my new home point. Granted, White mage made the traversal part easier but actually trying to fight anything on my own was rather difficult. I didn't learn how hazardous that run is when not using White mage till way later.

  4. i played this game last year around Nov/Dec ; thanks to Mr Happy's Vanadiel's march .. I only play for 2-3 months, finishing everything up to RoV.. Its only 2 months but those time was very memorable.. The difficulties that i had while doing the story, and also the help that i got during my journey is soo memorable.. Love this game.. Too bad i couldnt play it back then during its era ..

  5. Also 5963 can be pronounced go, ku, ro, san in Japanese which means "I appreciate your efforts", which is obviously a really funny (and annoying) thing for an NPC to tell you after all that work

  6. The first journey to Jeuno was one of my favorite adventures ever in any RPG. Am constantly longing for it again in other games but it never can match that same magic. The journey to the starter cities in Wings of the Goddess is a close second though.

  7. All this information just from one city alone just making me remember why I had to quit the game as I got older. FFXI was a second job but was worth every second of playtime, if you had the time to do so.
In a vacuum, FFXI is so far superior the MMO than FFXIV but you basically gotta not have IRL responsibilities to fully enjoy it.

  8. The INSTANT I heard that music it took me RIGHT BACK to 2004. Also, the Japanese joke at 23:26 is "Gokurousan" which is usually localized as "well done" when someone completes a task, often said by the composed and posh villain to their subordinate in anime. It's also used IRL normally but that's where most foreigners would hear it.

  9. I never got to play FFXI back in its prime and looking at it now, I would 100% hate every second of it if I tried to.

But if I played it as a kid, I know it would have consumed my life.

  10. Funny enough, I think if you outright pay Faursel (dunno why you would do that back then.) he will teleport you in the middle of nowhere in Wajaom Woodlands if I remember right. And you had no map to this place, so the best bet to get around would be to look up a map of Wajaom Woodlands on ffxiclopedia or something.

  11. The best part of the auction house was when someone accidently bought your single item for the price of a stack of said item because they accidently clicked the wrong thing. Or they accidently add another 0 when bidding, like spending 800,000 instead of 80,000. It felt like winning the lottery.

  12. me seeing this in ff14 as a former ff11 ps2 player
“you’re as beautiful as the day i lost you”
ff11 music always gets me emotional
it was a brutal grind fest that taught me alot of lessons on dealing w people being absolutely shit bags in a period of general social hermitage where i worked came home played did basic stuff and didnt do much w my life due to really bad depression

hilariously enough the games social interaction is all that kept me from being fully stunted socially when i finally broke out of my funk after years and started going out again and meeting new people

if not for the few friends on their and good linkshells i eventually ended up in id of been a mess
