Wesk Ranks Every FFXIV Dungeon – A Realm Reborn

Welcome to the start of somethingโ€ฆ. very long! I explain it in the video, but someone suggested I rank every dungeon in the game. I thought it would be a fun and cool idea!

I am an idiot!

So prepare yourselves for a very very long trip through every dungeon as I rank them one by one. This part is by far the longest. But hey, ARR has a lot of dungeons to go through!

  1. Copperbell is probably the first dungeon the devs designed. It'd explain the weird design choices, especially the fact that it's the only dungeon in the entirety of FFXIV to date with leashes for mobs.

  2. I've been talking to someone that noone creates FFXIV tierlists and/or rankings yesterday and today you upload one… What a legend.

Other ideas: ranking the scions, ranking city leaders, ranking cities

  3. 12:38 my girlfriend hates that dungeon to the point she logs out, she has trypophobia. Those spider webs are the worst.

I don't like it because I had to memorize where those green lights are, as a newbie I had other 3 newbs who where trying to survive and didn't notice the things and were confused by that thing until it stopped popping. We got overwhelmed at the boss many times … But the boss is ok, I felt glory at the win.

  4. I will say, I like the idea of the video and wouldn't mind seeing a tiering of the other dungeons / raids, too. But it was really odd to have clips from other dungeons play while you're making a point about a totally different dungeon. I'm sure part of it is due to the number of dungeons in question and *happening to have footage*, but it was definitely something that caught my attention.

  5. While leveling my tanks and got to Aurum, i discovered that I can pull the 2 unavoidable packs in the 1st room on the left inside the boss arena, LoS'ing them, and the experience becomes better. I also do this to pull only 1 pack before the 2nd boss and i forgot other packs, but doing LoS makes the experience in Aurum a lot better. Otherwise, for a 1st time healer, Aurum can be pretty traumatizing

  6. Basically every dungeon I find really enjoyable, this guy puts in C and below. And then the dungeons that I think are bad, that I only hear people complain about, he thinks are good. The Aurum vale for example I have never heard anyone say in the beginning "yeah I really like it here!". No it's just guys please get this over with as soon as possible and move on…
And then he starts going about those main scenario's, damn dude the only reason I have ever done those on repeat was to get those moogle tomestones otherwise just burn them with fire. That did it for me for this video…

  7. Great video, but man, the Toto-Rak take is… a very hot take. Toto-Rak can be fast and the last boss is much cooler than the earlier ARR stuff.

But when stuff goes wrong in Toto-Rak, it is incredibly annoying. Party forgets a magitek cell? Backtrack. Party gets split by web? Backtracking to that web. Go the way? Backtrack. And then there are all the mechanics that seemed tailor made to slow you down without adding any interest. The goo and the exploding eggs aren't challenging, but they feel like needless delay tactics. There's even a long, in-dungeon cutscene before the last boss as the cherry on top.

I don't think Toto-Rak has as many outright mistakes as Copper Bell, but its more annoying, at least to me.

  8. Copperbell deserves the f tier…on top of the unfun mechanics, whenever I remember that the lore is "you have to kill these slaves who revolted so we can continue our profitable mining operation" I hate it even more

  9. Your hot take wasn't that Toto was A tier…it was not liking The Manor Normal mode! Maybe it was running it a million times during HW while leveling up all the new classes but iy became a favorite of mine.
