  1. I think they're trying to avoid banking on the nostalgia of previous final fantasy games which is why we don't have a trial Quest at present. Honestly I call bullshit if you have previous Final Fantasy games that you can exploit and put into 14 just fucking do it. Obviously don't be ham-handed or half-ass with it

  2. I avoid social media aside from specific discord servers, so I haven't dealt with much of the crap you mention, but I definitely agree with what you're saying. The game attracts all kinds and players need to remember that not everyone plays the same way they do, and there's nothing wrong with that fact. Our differences make us stronger and richer.

  3. Counterpoint: You can do a variety of different types of content, with other players or not, to earn tomestones đŸ€

In all seriousness, I'm seeing a lot of mixed feelings regarding these relics. If I was someone with more time and fewer things to accomplish in game, I'd probably feel pretty bummed.

  4. I don't mind another tome step because it gives us options of what to grind or we can farm them over time and most of the Heavensward relic quests are just tomes, so it's not that different from what we've seen before.

It also makes it easier for people in the future who just want to do the Hildi quests.

And FFXIV didn't win best community, it won best community support at the games awards.

  5. You realize the same stage in shadowbringers was doing 60 fates per weapon. It was garbage. It's also now dead and you can't even get a group to farm the stage anymore.

Tomes is the best for everyone. You get to do everything you want to do and still get to progress. It's the most MMO thing they could have done.

Everyone crying about "I can't have an opinion or criticize the game" are just playing the victim to hide behind their bad opinions.
There's a ton of shit to criticize that's valid and based in logic.
Tomes for the first 2 stages ain't it

  6. I'm just happy this relic is mroe friendly for mroe casual folk like me. I know I'm a weirdo, but I LOATH Bozja and Eureka and the way they do things. So the previous Relic requisits really made it difficult for me to do stuff when I don't have much time to do with a group.

  7. This video sums up my thoughts on the issue way better than I could ever put into words the most dissapointed I've ever been in this game was logging in doing a fun hildi quest and then looking forward to the kind of content I've always liked the best and then just walking up to a vendor pressing a few buttons and it's done it was quite literally the ultimate anticlimax

  8. I'm going to weigh 400lbs with all of the popcorn this community has me eating while I watch the unnecessary drama every time a new patch comes out. I have no problem with the relics currently. I don't to extremes or savage so I haven't had a weapon upgrade since 6.1. It was needed. Yes, that's because of a greater issue with itemization (Savage/extreme players have four options over 620. Everyone else got a poke in the eye).

As far as the ease, I'm fine with that too. I have one ARR relic and there is a reason I don't have more. The grind sucks. I never got past rank 2 on the SHB relics because I was never able to clear DR and could never get to Zadnor. Eureka is a massive mountain just for a glam so that's absolutely not something that I feel is worth my time. On the other hand, I did a 12 and a half hour quest line and spent 6000 tomes. That sounds fair.

Plus, the next patch in two months is likely going to phase out the Astronomy tomestones so, that will probably be where the grind is. People forgot how easy step 1 of the SHB relics was.

  9. I understand ppl not being happy with the post Endwalker content, different strokes for different folks and all that. My only issue is when they berate me or anyone else for enjoying what we do have. Obviously I don't support every decision ever for the game, but as someone who has been enjoying everything post Endwalker quite a bit, it's tiring to be criticized for how I enjoy ffxiv or any game really.

  10. winning the best community award boosted the ego of some people 14 used to be a warm and humbled community now slowly turning into a drama/elitist community.

  11. Oh dear, this reminds me about the Menphina thing. I saw alot of ppl saying very awful things to others beause they said they didn't like Menphina's design. It went across all social platforms and it was horrible!
Ffxiv is a fun game but the extreme fans scare me that I find it hard to want to talk to anyone in game.

  12. I don’t have any issue with people not liking something in the game. Hate what you want and love when you do. Play if you want or don’t
I don’t care. I will however criticize people bitching when they put it in front of my face cause they want to be heard. And I’ll also call out people saying “this should be harder” while others say “this should be easier” like I don’t care like what you like and shut up

  13. Correction: SE usually just listens to what the JP playerbase wants. That's why we ended up without instanced relic content. JP hated Bozja.
And yeah. Lately, I haven't been feeling like we're a great community that we claim we are. We're just as toxic, maybe even more than other fanbases. We just don't show it as openly. The XIV fanbase exists in a bubble.

  14. I agree 100%, chief – this community has a strong toxicity all its own. Granted, it's certainly not the worst community, but it's definitely the most in-denial one I've been a part of in my 18 years of MMO gaming.

  15. The super devouts are the ones who scare me a lot. Thankfully, I’ve managed to avoid them. I personally don’t mind having Hildibrand for a relic weapon, sure it doesn’t seem good but when you think about it the past couple stages you’ve only had to use Astronomy Tomes, besides we don’t know what will happen in the next stage, they could throw a curveball our way just to make it interesting. The issues with Eureka and Bozja were mostly about the grind. I’m only level 53 in Eureka and have barely touched Hydatos and I only just unlocked DR for Bozja.
