Seems like the video having all the cinematics forgot the Heavensward one. Went from ARR to Stormblood to Shadowbringers. It was supposed to be ARR to Heavensward to Stormblood to Shadowbringers. But alas, I get a chill every time I see the cinematics since they are so good.
The giant thing that erupted is the False moon Dalamud, the dragon that came out is the primal god Bahamut. The battle taking place is called Carteneau, here, the Alliance (the good guys) fight off the invading Garlemald (The bad guys) who summoned the moon from the sky. This is what was the end of 1.x of the game, leading to 2.x in a Realm Reborn. THe original game did so bad that when they got a new game director he had them fix up the game while also working on the new version. Once it was finished, they nuked the old game and wove it into lore. The old guy is Louisoix who teleported the Warriors of Light 5 years into the future to save them from Bahamut's wrath. The main guy with the axe is the stand in for the player. I'm sure others here will happily tell you more without spoiling much!

this game did Fortnite events before Fortnite came to be. instead of changing the map like fortnite, it changed the whole game into a completely new game.
a realm reborn is 2.0. Original opening was https://youtu.be/HPG-rIeTYYY?t=12, and for some reason Heavensward (3.0) wasn't shown and skipped to Stormblood (4.0)
It just skipped Heavensward. DISAPOINTED!
