ngl, I don't care about how unoptimized it is, I cannot for the life of me use corps a corps or displacement outside of my melee except for the opener
It feels so completely wrong and can ruin you DRG Style

A wise man once said:
RDM is probably the easiest class to just pick up and play.
It's also among the hardest to actually properly, fully optimize.

You thought Dragoons were bad for jumping to their deaths… Guess what, Red Mages need to jump to their deaths to attack! xD
one thing to note about Verholy/Verflare.
say you have less White Mana than Black Mana, but you already have a Verstone proc and the mana are within 9 of each other, use Verflare and fish for that Verfire proc. (the opposite also applies)
Since you'd already have the Verstone proc, you just overwrite said Verstone proc.
DON'T DO THIS IF IT CAUSES A MANA IMBALANCE!
I'd like to verthank you for this verhelpful advice. Now on my verduties I might verwipe verslightly less.
Basically all of the reasons you say make the class weird or bad are the reasons I love it, lol. DNC is also pretty simple relatively speaking but both classes are fun to play and that’s what counts.
I can confirm that I absolutely had an existential crisis when I first saw an opener.
When i forget that i have verraise, i say "verdammt"
oh shit, he hasn't done the naruto ninja guide yet!!!
I threw up trying to learn the opener
4:25 as an ex-brd main I have bad news for you
I'm a big Red Mage stan, but I really hate it for 3 big reasons: 1: Dual cast being lost when sprint activates (why? Just why?) 2: Embolden is good only for other physical melee (why did Yoshi decide it should be like this when other games I've played that has Embolden does it for both mages and melee) 3: It practically feels like where other jobs have the feel of level 80 I feel like RDM is technically feels like a level 40 job cause some of the attacks are basically the polar opposite of another.
God this job ver needs a change. It's fun to play and it was my main during ShB but it feels like it's missing half of it's kit. Maybe more melee options. Maybe more support options. I dunno this job feels unfinshed compaired to it's brother job Samurai.
my favorite part of the rdm rotation is the 55 dmg melee hits
Algorithm Gang
i loved red mage when i was sick of blm's cast times as a sprout. hit dancer and totally lost interest, recently revisited and… kinda lost interest again :/ i agree with the sword being a staff most of the time lmfao, it is a nice aesthetic though!
RDM=consistent mobility Other casters=Burst mobility
I just love the theme of the class
A summoner that's moving is a summoner whose bahamut isn't attacking.
Phoenix is less stupid about that.
What is love, baby don't hurt me
I love the immediate sense of dread I feel every time I pick up a new job and see the opener.
I want to main red mage but i hate that everyone calling this job easy… I mean okay it is easy but I can't stand being bullied for playing something easier
baby dont hurt me
“This is your opening”
Ain’t nobody got time for that
