  1. It’s not just about misinformation and absence of logic. Other factors are at play as well. One being that ff14 can do no wrong. Ff14 is a 11/10. Yoshi P is “god”. Factors like constantly bashing other games and communities while unrealistically hyping the ff14 community. If ur game is great and ur community is great then who cares what’s happening in another game. Why log in to 14 and trash other games/community? Just enjoy and concentrate on where u are. People over sell the game and over hype the community. Hell, there are even sub divisions of the ff14 Andy, like the post ARR and beyond Andy’s. Making ppl skip and giving new players a negative mindset that ff14 is only good after ARR. Imagine already thinking like this before u even play the game. Ff14 is great and one of the best in the franchise, but the community has always been like this and the more people come in the more this mindset spreads. Let ppl enter with a clear mind. Stop over hyping the game and community. Let them form their own judgements. Let them critique. Stop thinking it’s a personal attack. If u already think the game or community is a 11/10 and neither the game or the devs can do no wrong then ur already on ur way to being an andy

  2. You are right this video did somewhat upset me. Almost didn't finish it just for the fact that Stoopz was talking trash in the beginning.

So let me explain. The term "Andy" exactly has been around for years. WoW should have got the term years and years ago. I played that game (WoW) for 17 damn years the players there were ALWAYS talking trash about other games. Like Always. But now that another game has come around and is now using the term, WoW players are getting their feathers ruffled about it. I usually play what I want and don't follow the lemmings crowd. I just know I am tired of people like Stoopz talking shit. People should just play what they want and have fun. Stop following toxic people around cause they are popular on YouTube ot Twitch, and/or Twitter.

  3. There so many stuff that I dislike about FF14, like for example, the gear stats, inventory, housing, endgame, homogenization of jobs/roles, mogstation, only challenging content is on endgame(solo potd is the exception) and how easy and non engaging are the thing quest ask you to do, to the point that if I recommend the game and the person don't get hook by the story they just quit because how boring is to just teleport from one side to the other just to speak with an npc when they are not engage by was happening and when the game ask you to actually engage in combat the encounters don't last long enough to use their full kit or it can be clear by just using your main combo.

It might seem like I'm hating the game, but no, I love this game I have taken the time to immersed myself into the lore, characters and world. I love fishing and gathering. I love collecting glams(not having enough space unless I spend double the sub for retainer kind of sour this part, but I manage) minions and mounts, I love the story, I love the esthetic and I enjoy tab target combat a lot.

Just because you don't have any problem with what I don't like it doesn't mean they can be improved. This is my main problem with the community and why I don't engage in it, is so hard to discuss what I don't like because is like I am attacking them personally.

Now that the game has open up to more people I expect my complains are gonna be voice by others that don't have that emotional attachment to the game, but only time will tell.

  4. Every game has them but with a growth in popularity then those who may be less than savory will definitely show up to voice their opinion on how their game is THE BEST or that anyone who played the game and moved on to something else is a terrible person. I see it in Asmon's vod's all the time, granted his chat hasn't always been the pick of the litter but it's how it goes. It's that even though it doesn't reflect the majority of the playebase for said game, it will absolutely always put the game in a negative light as loud as those people can be. Unavoidable sadly, but hope it passes as a phase for the "Andy's" and that they will eventually exhaust themselves from being so angry for nothing.

  5. This nonsense is nothing new. It exists in all aspects of life. People becomes hardcore fan of their hobby and it turns them into imbeciles.

Playstation and Xbox fans have been arguing over which console is better, which console has more exclusive games, for the past couple decades.

iOS and Android fans had been at each other’s throats for the past decade, arguing in ridiculously long threads on Reddit.

Look at hardcore sport fans. NFL and NBA fans will literally get in physical fights with the opposing team’s fans if they disagree with them on which team plays better.

To sum up this phenomenon: Same shit, different toilets.

When it comes to MMORPGs, I’ve been playing this genre since the early 90’s. I’ve never once felt compelled to fanboy any of the titles I played. Most of the times, the people I met in one MMO will also play another MMO that I’m actively playing. The friends I met online view MMO games as just a medium for us to hangout and have fun. Which MMO we chose to have fun in never really mattered much.

Lastly, the Stoops guy you clipped in the beginning is a prime example of what an Andy is. In his attempt to put down FFXIV, he had cornered himself into being viewed as an Andy for whatever game he’s playing.

  6. Or you know his stream are toxic degenerates, they literally spammed play ff14 before he ever started playing because they thought it would be funny to play a "weeb" game and he would mald.

  7. Ive been playing FF online since a realm reborn. The most my sub has lapsed is maybe 6 months in all that time. And I've only made a handful of public comments on the game. I don't really go out of my way to correct misinformation because there are plenty of sources out there. I think most rational people will try the game, especially with the free trial, and if they like the game they will quietly play. If they don't, they will quietly stop playing. It's just a video game, people.

  8. The description of an "andy" reminds me of a yandere, but instead of being obsessed with a person, they're obsessed with a game, and by extension, everyone related to the game. It's sick and sad and I vaguely worry about something really bad happening because of that sort of obsession.

  9. Literally 98% of games I play right now is FFXIV. Absolutely love the game. There is still a lot of toxicity, it's just thinly veneered in positivity in game. Out of game it's just straight caustic. I've recommended other MMOs because I know some people just aren't going to get into it, and you end up with at least two or three replies just shitting on another game I'd recommend. It's nuts. FFXIV stands on it's own, you don't have to prop it up by tearing it down.

  10. It is pretty annoying and the same type of mentality that got me to stop watching sports. If a team wins, nothing happens to your life. The teams don't know you, they don't care about you, and win or lose they are happy to take your money. Yet people devote a percentage of their income, a percentage of their lives watching other people play with balls. Some people even paint their walls or decorate their houses (the most important investment for many) for a team. The same thing with video game companies. FF is a great game and we are fortunate to have Yoshi-P and team but at the end of the day, Square Enix is not our friend, good content or bad content, they are happy to take your money. Nobody should be so tribalistic about something so trivial such as a video game, sports team, or anything else for entertainment.

  11. I watched this video because: A. It’s Brian and B. I don’t know who or what is an Andy. 😋 Now I do. 😅
I’m just a causal gamer. I don’t do social media. No Reddit, no Twitter. I follow 5 FXIV content creators on YouTube for the info and the laughs. FFXIV? Or any other game? Like it, don’t like it. It’s my personal decision. It’s my own and I share it with family, friends or anyone who asks. I don’t waste my time in circular discussions with rude people. Ignore them long enough and they will go away. I’m going back to playing my game for some fun. Thank you Brian. Stay safe. ❤️

  12. I'm glad people are noticing this. I have been on top of these andies and kept telling these types of gamers to relax a bit. This is what will kill your game, if you keep pushing this trend, let the game speak for itself.

  13. I’ve been playing 14 on and off since around 2.2-2.3 of ARR. I’ve never let my sub go out just due to it being more convenient to keeping the sub going even if I don’t play for a few months at a time.

A very important thing for any 14 player is to also play other games and have more experiences than just 14.

  14. The only issue with shit like this is that wow players are the exact same and have been for the last 10 years
its just that since another game has gotten a rise of the same obnoxious crowd, people act like it's a new thing

  15. FFXIV Andies: "FFXIV Andies don't exist!"

Also FFXIV Andies: *What happened to Scottzone*

All I ask is that FFXIV Andies don't do to anyone else what we did to Scottzone two years ago. Just… rein it in guys. Just rein it in. It's fine. Relax. Go grunt at a catgirl in slutglam or something.

  16. All im getting from this is that the XIV playerbase is overwhelmingly positive about the state of their game and enjoys telling people about it and wanting them to share in it. But Asmon doesn't trust it and thinks its a cult because theres no possible way a playerbase could just like their game. XIV players accept tons of legitimate criticism, but most of it is things that can't be changed from a technical standpoint. Asmon and some of his fans call people andies merely for mentioning a game, or posting news about a game. Or saying "I enjoyed it when Asmon played XIV."

  17. I don't like how these people bothering others to play the game while also shitting on other games. Mind you, it isn't just FFXIV. I mean all of the types of these "Andies", be it FFXIV, WoW, Lost Ark, or even Elden Ring. Sure you can discuss good and bad of those games, but to completely disregard each of the games' strength yet only focusing on talking down their weakness aren't really something that will make communities and games improve. They even go as far as to lie or give incorrect informations to hurt the other games while bring up the game they love, but instead of making the game they love be in positive light, it only brings down the negative on the game(s) that they love.

  18. Who are those shitters who give us bad rep anyway? I swear I only get chill people in-game. The WORST experience I've had those past 6 months is a smooth brain in Ivalice who forgot to cheese the roulette and complained nobody else did and sat on the rewards at the end. (I guess not everyone likes fun. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ ) But then you hear that Scottzone gets doxxed and death threats for thinking WoW raids are better, streamers gets spammed to the point they're sick of hearing about it and female streamers in Japan get really nasty stalkers. That's deranged. I don't know who they are or where they hang, but they don't represent anyone I know or play with in-game.

But I think it happens because FFXIV is the only MMO where players are generally positive about their game and the people behind it. Lost Ark is fun but it has all the issues of a Korean grinder MMO and I think people are starting to notice. New World has crumbled under bugs, hacking, botting and toxicity. I don't play ESO but it apparently has really clunky combat, bad net code and greedy monetization. GW2 just had their best expansion yet, but Anet also makes very unpopular balance changes and an overtuned event recently brought into daylight a lot of serious issues. WoW let's not even talk about it, it would be cruel.

Meanwhile, if you listen to the FFXIV community you'd think the worst problem in the game is bunny hairstyles and genderlocked gear? 🤣 Personally I'd be more upset about the Mog Station's greed, the lack of exploration content on the 6.x timeline, the effect making the MSQ solo might have on queues and on the community, and the server infrastructure which spectacularly failed us during 6.0 launch. But hey, that's just me… What do I know about priorities?

  19. My philosophy is if you love/like a game, play it. Don't punish people who love or want to try different games. Everyone have different taste and appreciate different things. Respect people and their choices even if you don't agree. Respect is like a highway, it goes back and forth if you choose to get on it.

  20. "The XX insert title here" followed by Andy has been such a dumb and toxic term being used. Mostly people use it to anyone that is just a big fan. Yeah I defend most of things in XIV because I believe it's the best mmo. What do they expect me to do, lie? Lol

  21. First: that Emerald Weapon fight brings memories… won’t say they are all necessarily good 🤣 Second: I learned something new today. Haven’t heard about the “Andy” before, thanks for the context.

Now on the main discussion point – and to a previous comment of yours to me on another video, I now understand what you wrote. It is curious, though, how quick this changed. If you think about it, FF players were not as vocal as they seem to be now against other games’ streamers. They were the “weebs” and kept their heads down and voices quiet for a long, long time. That social networks are a cesspool, it ain’t a lie, and this is the turning point for the discussion here. Folks are easily manipulated these days. The main problem is not having a contrary opinion – I for one usually have plenty. The problem is not being able to discuss these opinions like civilized beings, nor learn the other side point of view to educate yourself. This is what creates hordes of “Andies” and keep trolls well fed.

I still believe what other games streamers brought to FF14 is mostly positive. What is not positive is the human interaction, but that is not the streamers fault – they too are a consequence of how poorly human engagement ends up, as proven favored by social media algorithms.

Wrapping up, thank you for keep shining lights on problems, always with an open mind.

  22. I always find it weird when people get so emotionally invested in one billion dollar company's products vs. another billion dollar company's product, generally to their own detriment and enjoyment. DCEU v. MCU, WWE v. AEW, FFXIV v. WoW v. other games, PlayStation v. Xbox, etc., etc. people will crap on one (or more) in the weird belief that it "elevates" the one they like but it really doesn't. It doesn't man you can't be critical of things that aren't good, but when the purpose of being critical is to elevate something else it's just strange.

  24. Wow, those were some interesting clips. I mean I know the 14 fanbase is super positive about the game. I'm curious if the 14 base in Asmon's streams are actively down voting or just his base audience. I don't watch streams. I need to go back n rewatch that analytics video because this just popped a bunch of math questions in my head.

I think the term Andy is just another pejorative term, like fanboy. 14 does some great things. It also does some dumb things. Not because the people are bad or inept but due to constraints of the code. Housing is getting better but its not good when you want to buy one.

After years of WoW, don't become a one game person. I'm playing multiple games. I revolve between F04, Lost Ark, OW, 14, WoW, and I'll check out whatever is coming on Gamepass.

If I hadn't quit WoW originally in 2011, I would have missed out on Borderland 2, Destiny, Mass Effect 3(I found ME 2 right after I quit WoW), Gears of War franchise(pc only player), Left 4 Dead series, the Witcher series, and so so many more amazing games. All because I was a fanboy dedicated to WoW. I didn't make time for anything else.

Enjoy the game or don't. Just don't be a butt about it to others. It just makes the community look childish or you.

  25. this is but one issue among many in ffxiv regrettably tho it might be way too late to fix this particular problem.
i like your positive take on this but one thing you forgot to mention is that this particular minority is its the one that holds the game back cause they are so loud and so multiplous that they form large bands to discredit any form of critique for ffxiv which leads to the devs thinking important issues we need to have fixed are just the result of drama and fighting and so they achieve what they desired this minority and thats making it so that no impactful or meaningful change can take place and mediocrity and an unpolished product is all that we can look forward to.

and honestly content creators(no offense to you) kinda make the issue worse by taking and accepting handouts from Square Enix specifically and that empowers these individuals ever more.
it will take a large amount of the games population and a dozen non-biased content creators to correct this problem if it ever even gets addressed at all.

  28. Sorry English is my second language so apologize for weird English grammar

There is a saying in Chinese Idiom. “Big Tree caught more wind”. Might be just another way to see the game is growing bigger than ever.

I think it’s just the recent tribalism culture for everything, don’t wanna be political here so I keep other things to myself.

I think simple, if you like a game, play it, if you hate a game, don’t play it. Everyone enjoy game different way. I like playing Elite dangerous being a space trucker, doesn’t meant others want.

I personally think peoples are too caring what other people think. I love how you solve the problem, asking them question.
