  1. It's great that you're finding all these references, I think it would be cool to find all the other references in the previous expansions as well as the ones in Endwalker. (Trust me, there are a lot there too.)

  2. If you count the original Final Fantasy Dissidia and Dissidia Duodecim on PSP they used that WoL look as well as a DLC skin to remove his helmet.

  5. You can go even deeper and I will share you this as well. If you haven't noticed, Seat of Sacrifice doesn't follow the standard fight sequences. Rather than doing Tank buster, AoE, then group mechanic, it does these. The very first attack is "Terror Unleashed". It brings down party member's HP to 1. As you may have known, Square was closing their doors and the Final Fantasy they have created was the very last game that they were planned to make. Hence, the name Final Fantasy. The game represented the company at their last moment. It would take a miracle cure to bring back the company from the brink of death. Does this seem familiar? Group HP goes to 1 then healers performing the miracle? Then the next attack, Solemn Confiteor, their past sins, mistakes made that lead to struggle financially and possible disband, the mechanic to the fight is having people spread out. And eventually they were saved by the weapon of Light. Which is the next attack Coruscant Saber. The mechanics brings the party together, symbolizing the company union. Believe or not, the attack choreography tells the story of Square inc during the production of Final Fantasy.

  6. An extra bit of detail is that some of the WoL's attacks are based from the Dissidia games, like Bitter End, Shining Wave (Swords of Light), Rune Saber (Solemn Confiteor), and Ascension.

And i think his visual design is a combination of both the original Amano art and foundation of armor, and his Dissidia color scheme where it's primarily blue and gold, and he has the tassel in his helmet

  7. Those are really cool references, which reminds me how much I need to play more Final Fantasy games. I'd love to play the pixel remasters, but they're like $18 each… Luckily—or unluckily—I actually have the PS1 versions of 5&6 as well as 4 & Chrono Trigger, but the load times are suffering.

  8. If you look at the summoned Warrior's ability again, he performs an earthquake attack. This is a further nod to Cid from FF4 as the Earth Hammer was his most powerful weapon from the Tower of Zot that had the ability to perform the earthquake attack if used as an item. So your analysis was closer than you thought.

  9. I love that you went back and looked into those little details. Id picked up on most of them, but didn't make the connection with the twincast or warrior.

What I did like was his use of our own limit breaks and abilities. Eldragon dive in perticular, I could be mistaken, could sometimes be done twice and hit hard and uses Hallowed ground if you lb when he's on low health. I looked at this fight like playing a dnd game and a boss encounter was your old characters, using your own tactics against you, and I love that kind of stuff.

  10. The FF1 Warrior of Light is one of my fave characters, and Elidibus becoming him in this game made it even better. I remember farming Labyrinth of the Ancients for like a week straight to get all the tank gear and then farm SoS EX so I could cosplay as him. It's still my Paladin glam to this day, and I can't wait for the shiny version of the Weapons of Light to come out.
