  1. 1. The lore of this version of Odin is pretty cool. The idea that The Sword is the Primal and the user is merely a puppet that is posessed and molded into Odin is kinda badarse.

Which is why I am sad to say that, as of me writting this, FF14 has yet to do anything with Odin. He's also a World Boss/Fate that can be found wandering Black Shroud (and will take on the model of the player that lands the killing blow) but that's about it. He's had no real story relevance since.

    2. That being said, I love this fight. The difficulty is just right in my opinion for any players who have yet to jumo into Extremes and beyond. Its a legitimately good starting off point.

Odin's consistent tank buster level attacks and Bleed force tanks to swap and use mitigation, his raid wide damage slowly amps up as the fight progresses, challenging the healers, and the mechanics, while not hard to dodge, are more demanding than most of the Normal fights

    Fun fact:
When Odin does the Zantetsuken, an iconic move from other games as well that is almost always an instant kill as well, he has a wind up animation and you can kill him during it, winning the fight.

This is exactly how Asmongold killed it with his group as they technically failed the DPS check but killed him by the skin of their teeth as he was going to wipe them

  2. Odin armor, my beloved. It looks so damn cool. I love that the arms and boots can even be used by mages for a bit of a more armored look. However one thing that irks the hell out of me is that it doesn't have a cape since they didn't do capes back in ARR. My dream is that someday they'll go back and revisit the Odin chest piece and give it the cape it deserves. Oh also, randomly Odin can spawn anywhere in the Gridania maps as a FATE. If you're ever in the Shroud zones and the weather is "tension", that means he's active. Won't show up on the map though, you'll have to search for him manually (although whenever he does spawn people will usually make a party finder so you can use that to work together to find him). Also if you beat the FATE you can trade in the rewards for his sword, which is one of my favorite paladin weapons, and a chocobo barding to make your bird look like his horse. Tragically, his actual horse as a mount can only be gotten from the cash shop and it's $24 -_-

  3. This basically is an extreme fight already, despite not being labeled as such. In roulette, this can only pop in Mentor roulette. You will never see it in Trial roulette. Just like an extreme trial.

  4. this fight was hell healing it when ARR was current. Healers MP economy was terrible back then, needed brd mage ballad (when it use to be party mp regen) to still heal the fight as healer's own MP regen skill was 2 min CD for 15s, not 1 min with 21s like it is now.

  5. did this fight MINE a couple weeks ago. basically impossible when one of your healers doesnt even know how to heal…or do anything. so we swapped them to DPS which was their main job….they still didnt know what the hell they were doing. i checked their info and they had so many jobs at 70+. i dont understand how people can just not…learn how to play the game after so long.

EDIT: DAMN THOSE HEALERS PULLING OVERTIME! and without a shield healer makes this fight so much harder!
