Some HUD and UI updates I want, personally, are: cooldown timers for actions covering the whole button so that they're actually legible, duration numbers for buffs/debuffs on the party list, color and/or sound cues on cast bars to indicate whether they are physical or magical damage, (ex: red for physical, blue for magic) and a way to change the color of basic AOEs (circles, donuts, cleaves, etc) similar to how we can change the color of people's names
My stance on third-party tools has remained consistent throughout my time in XIV: I'm not gonna use them, but I don't care if other people do, unless it's cactbot, invincibility hacks, farm bots, and the like.
One of my ex best friends nagged at me to use it, he stopped using it himself. He said he realized he can't do anything without it. As soon as he tried not using it. He realized he's dumb and the tool does everything for him. He stopped using it to improve. He thought he was good with it. When he actually sucked. Now he actually knows what things are called, when things happen, what to use at what time. Without the tools. He feels smarter and flexes about it now. "Haha i know how to do it without tools while they don't".
This whole conversation that's been going on for weeks now is kinda stupid
If you break laws in real world you go to jail no mommy or daddy to save. Do things or don't do things, if you get fucked up for it you get bite in the ass move on & do better next time that simple & if you don't like the laws move to another world. Oh and don't fuck the game up for other people period.
There whole video everyone keeps making in one comment
There's a little gray area with Discord. For example, getting callouts for Hunt rank A and rank S locations. How do you think those callouts got there? That's right. Plugins.
Dude they "bug fixed" Augmented crafted gear and Aglaia raid gear, and week's worth of loot was invalidated, but THIS is what they cry about? Idiots.
Also, Xenosys is being ridiculous with that video.
Rules are rules whether you like it or not. Yoshi-p's stance on third-party tools hasn't changed. I would say this whole thing only affects streamers. They shouldn't act surprise when the S-E starts putting out the ban hammer. It was a risk they were willing to take so now they have to deal with it. It probably wouldn't be as bad if Yoshi-p made that statement before the WF, would it?
Wholly agree with you. If nothing had happened regarding the usage of any of this then the TOS is just a joke. It had gone so long with out it being policed that so many felt like nothing was going to happen. I know the smoke will clear and if people leave then be it. The game will go on and who knows what changes they will make down the road. We've seen so many QoL changes, things can change for the better. Here's to getting past this and for everyone to enjoy a game we love.
Hey Kou, as an up and coming content creator – Main channel is Menmaro I made a 16 minute meme Samurai guide – how the flip do I hide a tool that makes my cooldowns look bigger. According to FFXIV's ToS, I can and will get banned for using that. So how do I hide that cuz if I overlay my hotbars, streaming raids such as uwu becomes obselete or even uploading videos of my rotations I decided to use for uwu or dsr when I planned to. We need an official statement that allows the use of UI modding tools that dont affect the gameplay or give a competitive edge over other players. Otherwise we will continue to see shit like this and the minute another game comes out with better raids or even the same quality raids/story there will be an exodus just because people will feel safer.
Happy about that
If they ban me so it us bit back to WoW it is where devs are not bloody anal about mods
"i play vanilla" i say as i log in via XIVLauncher with built in dalamund plugin support
I agree with this statement. I've played FFXIV for some months now in the vanilla version, but would love if there were some implementation for making the HUD and UI more visible
Square Enix are taking a backwards stance on this. Both WoW and ESO(especially ESO) use mods and it makes them better games, they actively support the modding. I agree that you shouildnt be able to see the whole mechanics ahead of time thing, but anything other than that is fair game.
i mean arthas of all ppl should know better, I remember his ban 2 years ago, because his chat witchhunted a player who he dissed because of his act numbers.
Zenos is a space case. lol We all love him, but he seems overly excited and wound up too damn tight. 37? I'm 65, I have to deal with it … deal with it lil bro. Calm down. lol Yer stil loved.
You know we're into a real discussion when there isn't even a joke about certain "other mods" 😉
I am disabled. Without Third party tools the game is not playable for me.
the most based ff content creator back at it again
I want to see the team make improvements to the UI based on some of the plugins. I do not use anything personally. ACT is a risk so just keep it to yourself as always. I am bascially against any none QoL UI based addons/plugins and ACT is well has and always will be there. Also do not stream with them.
So basically, nothing happened. This statement about third party tools was here since around ARR
Well i cant say i hate the BALD NECK BEARD more the situation what we got here… 😀 He is so childish and i hope he get banned for few days…Only few days bcs he need think about what he say more… 🙂 ….I use DMG meter and i know i breaking TOS etc…Well i deleted it ..its no big deal
Damage meter, dbm, and bunch off addons ruined mmos like wow for me. I got peer presurred to use bunch of addons and every fight someone posted dps meter and so on. But how am i supposed to gear up if you all expect me to do a certain amount of dps according to a simluation. Either you gear up more kill the boss or not. Thats when i had the most fun and made alot of friends but when that aspect start declining because the norm becomes playing accordingly to hardcore raiders/streamers it ruins the overall game experience for those thats out on their first adventure or those that wanna try doing endgame content. Overtime players/friends left and guild died. Because imagine having to choose what the meta is and not what you like. Eating flavours you don't like whats even the point ?
UI, HUD and Quality of Life tools are ok, tools that call out what to do are stupid and I dont get it. My friend does have a custom launcher that logs him in automatically and uses it for discord rich presence and that makes sense to me, he doesnt mention it in game, nor to other people
We just use him to find where he is cause he is always in weird places
lmfao xenos take on discord was so bad he couldn't tell if it was sarcasm or not
Oh snap you watch asmon too! 🤣 Yeah you make good points. I feel like people being too over dramatic man. You make some good fair points that I agree with haha.
In perspective… any software that is not the FF14 execute file or interacts with the game is a 3rd party software. The windows 10 operating system is a 3rd party software to FF14. I like to think that all fights were created with the idea that the text chat would suffice, but discord callouts are 100% the same as the callout bot. You can use discord for many things but since someone is telling you the next mech, how is that different? Anyway, streamers have been too chill about it and forgot the first rule of Fight Club.
Fandom is big. Culture is big. Ppl technically live a bubble that they created for themselves or just not knowing much outside worlds. That’s how racial differences exist.
I'm so tired of the add-on fit.
If you use them, don't post it on social media. If your bedroom is a total mess, don't post it on social media.
I would love a DPS meter in Stone, Sky, Sea, or on the striking dummies. As a PS5 player, it would be amazing for learning other classes at a higher level. I’m fine without it in regular content,
A tool that allows you to see an aoe ahead of time? Bye Y'sthola~
As someone who has slowly but surely made his way into harder content in the game, specifically savage and ultimate i'm on the side of damage meters should be allowed, seriously when i started raiding i had 0 idea what i was doing and i stayed like that for a while before someone that was using damage parsers told me that i was under performing and me not knowing exactly how just made me get mad at them and leave group after group.
I had to learn the hard way that i was not being optimal and most of the time i was the worst dps on the party and i was slowing my team down, i understand yoshi's point of view on the matter and how supposedly a damage meter will bring toxicity into the game however i disagree most high end raiders at least that i know of that use parsin tools only use them for self improvement and never bash other players for doing bad now though there's a difference between telling someone "hey your damage is lacking a bit maybe we should work on that" than straight up being like "hey dude your damage is garbage you should quit the game and go back to fortnite" i totally encourage for the latter to get banned or punished in some way for being toxic.
But for players who are just looking to better themselves and become overall someone who can contribute more and just be at the top level of play in the game shouldn't be getting banned for trying to do better, HUD changes (bigger cooldown timers) (sound cues) (physical and magical damage reader) and of course a damage meter are all changes i want to see in future patches of the game.
I play on a console so those tools are not in our best concerned.. if there is in console I'm not aware about it so don't jump on me if there is 😄
Oh god, another one. I'm so sick of this topic already…
At this point, they've literally designed the game with third party tools on mind. Savage content is made to be used with third party tools by someone – from strict damage checks almost requiring damage metres to phys and magical damage being indistinguishable. A11Y features have straight up not need added because the team knows that the gap has been filled my third party tools – larger cooldown (which I'll openly admit to using and absolutely need), colorblind options, combo timer, slidecast timer, deep dungeons overlay telling you which pomanders you activated on the previous floor, and arguably combo plugin for those with movement impairments – and yes, those that just find it easier. Also, there are so many harmless QOL addods that are staples in other games like showing precise enemy HP numbers, GP timer, marker board plugin (this only allows you to view prices – not purchase), retainer notifications, tools that organize your inventory better.
There are a LOT of features players want and the team simply won't be able to fill this game. We get a plugin implemented as a feature every patch or so. 4.1 introduced items saying if they were obtained or not which was an addon. They simply won't be able to add all of the A11Y and QoL features people want. This in mind, my opinion on the matter is that the team should just allow it at this point. Ban harassment. Ban toxcicity. Ban cheating. Hell – even ban players for encouraging other players to use them. But harmless third party tools? Just let it go.
Saw from a zepla vid that one of the raiders was using some kind of tool to put AOEs down where the game wouldn't put them. That's…. Cheating…
