  1. I think it makes the experience of watching it less fun, i mean for the streamer it would be bad to sit in 1 instance for weeks so I understand this but part of me wanted at least average players running with him. I'm glad that Asmon will have the family to prog it with so I think Asmon's will be more enjoyable.

  2. Nice I wish people would get over Rich's clea,. The guy has admitted on stream more than once that he is aware he is raiding with some really good people and is privileged to be in his position. As for the people who helped him well its a content drought have fun anyway you can if you are caught up

  3. Streamer privileges. To be honest I don't appreciate people that use their streamer privileges on everything. Part of the fun of a stream is the struggle and the fails of the streamers or their 200 IQ moves. Anyway, he is not the first or the last that got carried in a game. I remember that I paid for Titan on the ARR to get my relic weapon because it was nearly impossible for me to play with that ping (the servers were in NA and I played from Europe) and also there was no party finder at that time. I did good when I bought the run, but it was the first and last time I paid for something in an MMO because 10 years after I remember that moment and I don't feel anything. On the other hand I still remember our Yogg-Saron: Zero lights server first (Death's Demise) in WoW and feel some sort of accomplishment. This feeling that something is impossible/untouchable but in the end you made it, is priceless.

PS: I watch Rich everyday for an hour, so I consider my self a fan and don't you dare to say otherwise!

  4. I mean i heard from someone if it's helping someone to get a clear it shouldnt be taking that long. What rich has pass bye pretty much the struggle of gathering member and progging while everyone mostly on the same page. Just call it a day and dont take it too seriously honestly. Most streamer bypass the gathering member (yes i know it might take bit of effort but try to compare it with most people.) A clear is a clear and it isnt like the title proof him being a godly player. Honestly it just means people can meme him with "Legend btw"

  5. Congrats for Rich, i'm very happy for him.

Even so i stopped watch Rich playing the game ( he's funny and a very charismatic person, but i just can't deal with him playing the game for 5 min, stop for 30 min straight to talk about random stuff with a bunch of players literally on his screen, then start to play again for 5 min and repeat ). Still my Prime goes to him specially cuz i love his Emotes list.

Anyways, how long it took to Rich to clear UCoB? 🤠.

  6. People are so, so salty. Rich himself said he had every possible advantage he could get. He got carried? Absolutely. But he also learned most of the mechanics and had a fairly clean clear. Hell, people said that Asmon would be carried BECAUSE PEOPLE WOULD GIVE HIM FOOD AND POTS. People will yell 'carried' no matter how these streamers get their clears, they can't win.
By the logic some people use I'm seemingly getting carried through TEA because we have 3 people who have cleared it before. Oh well.

  7. They do somewhat have a point about the "build your own community" thing. Ultimates aren't a top priority because SE knows not a lot of players do them.

Hypothetically if the people who did help Rich with his clear did things like this more frequently (because yes, I know, a couple of them help people clear 2-3 times a month) then things could change. Help for change instead of helping for clout. Of course they don't need to help anyone they don't want to, but they can't really complain about Ultimates being delayed or not a high priority if they do nothing to grow that community.

Though I think gatekeeping Ultimates like a lot of people are doing is giga cringe. I'm glad people helped Rich with his clear, it gets more eyes on the raiding scene.

  8. Not taking sides on the whole thing, I don't think it is to be unexpected for some to bear some grudge towards the most popular streamers. It's not just the fact he had an impressive roster of experienced players helping him through UCoB, something not everybody wanting to experience Ultimate will get that easily, but the fact that Rich influence has regaled him with a lot of presents (glams, mounts -some of them VERY expensive-) and support (help through chat, instant groups). Those siding with Rich will call it jealousy, those against him will call it unfairnessn or streamer privilege. But you can't have a streamer who (relatively) recently took to play FFXIV to get that many advantages in his gameplay time and expect it to be a wholly silent matter. And given the defensive stances around him and from him, to expect to not have people taking a grudge is a really naïve take.

One thing I learned from these experience though is that community can be all smiles and chill in-game until you step outside of SE area of influence, where the bitter elements of the communities just funnel anything they wouldn't dare to say in-game thanks to the game being thoroughly moderated.

And, without supporting the hate towards Rich, I do have to criticize that, in some regard, Rich has been becoming a bit of a cult personality among some followers that dwells on the polar opposite of the haters and can't stop themselves from jumping at every critical remark.

  9. I donno.

I didn't watch his full prog but I did watch his later runs. His MCH gameplay is awful*. He also seemed to understand a lot of the mechanics, but some of them he didn't quite grasp, and yet more he did inconsistently. If he were in a group that played at the same level as him, he definitely wouldn't have cleared. And FWIW, please bear in mind that UCOB has literally been cleared by seven people, so a full "carry" is definitely possible.

(* CD drift, unnecessary downtime, dropped combos, wasted battery gauge, poor to nonexistent understanding of raid buff windows for use of abilities such as gauss round/ricochet.)

On the other hand? He did put in a lot of work and he clearly had learned a lot of the fight. It's not fair to say that he was simply "given" the clear or that he couldn't ever have cleared the fight in a natural prog setting. He was made to do many of the mechanics and his effort was arguably an achievement in itself. Good on him for that.

I guess my feelings fall somewhere in the middle. Was he carried to an extent? Yeah, absolutely. Does that mean his efforts were completely meaningless? No, of course not. And I don't begrudge him for "cheating" or whatever. I'm glad he got to experience a cool fight and learn a lot from the experience.
