  3. The dirty little secret of XIV is that about 1/3 to 1/2 of the story is filler trash. It's actually a lot like DBZ – for every 1hr of amazing moments there's 3 or 4 hours of incredibly repetitive and boring dialogue that has no actual purpose other than to fatten up the story.

    I really hate that the community is unwilling to admit that there are certain parts of the story that are not enjoyable. I almost quit the game during STB – not because the story was THAT bad, but because I was being gaslit by the community that insisted I should think it's a10/10 story and I felt it was more like a 3 or a 4.

  7. I mainly enjoy the story. Couldn’t really get into raiding. Right now while waiting for the next expansion I carry my alts through it again. Slowly this time though.

  8. This is why the 14 story dick riders are in a bubble. CBU3 makes the story full of filler garbage in between big set pieces, and a wider non-14 audience got a taste of that when they played 16.

  9. You shouldn't be required to give a shit about the story to enjoy the game because it's an MMO, not a single player game. The story being good is great, but if that's all you have going for an MMO then that is not a great argument that the game is worthwhile. Even for single player RPGs if the story is amazing but the gameplay is garbage that wouldn't fly. So why should that be a viable excuse for an MMO? I also think people harassing people over not enjoying the story is very cringe. If I were to recommend someone to this game and they did not enjoy ARR, I would tell them buying a story skip is fine. They're playing a game with their time, they should have fun. If they're interested in the story later they can do new game plus or watch someone else's let's play.

  14. I adore the msq, but yeah there's quite a lot of it that's kinda mid. Main story HW I found myself being hella impatient with cause it was about ishgards socio-political conflicts when I was promised a story about dragons and war, the first half of SHB which was nothing but exposition, and every part in EW with the stupid moon bunnies was boring af. As much as it has made me all sorts of emotional, not all of it is good so people shouldn't say that only story matters or that only raids matter.
    The best answer is both. A healthy mix of both

  19. could prob get through the story if it wouldn't be 80% filler presented as if I'm mentally slow or under 8 years old.
    Loving the game for years now, but I'll never give the story another try
