  1. I'm glad there's new players, but oh god so many of asmongold's followers made up the worst elements of the WOW community, so I hope most of them just watch his stream instead of joining the game. Might not really be an issue because there's a big overlap between his followers and the people who'd rather play WOW Classic, so lots of them are probably still on that instead.
I will say the login queues haven't been an issue for me on the Crystal datacenter. Had them before the big WOW exodus, now they haven't really been any bigger since.

  2. I brought the game on my ps4 last Friday/Thursday for USA but because I'm in new zealand we have poor connections then to find out that most of the servers are shut down its insane I've only been in the game once a and only for a hot minute

  3. I’m a new player, I started over a week ago. But I did download free trial and yesterday decided to purchase full version of the game. I am a wow refugee lol been part of wow for 15 plus years; but I enjoy that that people see someone in trouble and come over to help us ff14 noobs lol thank ff14 community for being amazing!

  4. I think the worry isn't now when it comes to lag and server pops. The issue is the masses will be caught up by Nov and Endwalker unless they do something will likely be a mess with millions going into Endwalker zones

  5. As an original ffxiv player that stopped and just came back and been playing for about a few weeks now, I can honestly say this game will milk your hours like crazy, yesterday my friend and I just realized we were on for like 5 hours straight and didn't even realized it was 3am lol and needed to work in a few hours, this are good memories for a fact. It's just mind blowing that this game had such a horrible and terrible lunch, and them came this golden gem. Just watching Asmon, a hardcore wow player enjoy this lala/kitty/ weird charater game, it is a blessing.

  6. Thank you to all the vets who kept this game afloat through the early days. Played ARR about at release and fell off fast. Just finished the slog to get to Heavensward and Stormblood , sad I jumped on just now.

  7. Didn't have any problems getting a key (although initial setup could be more polished). Queues aren't a big deal. Losing an entire evening to patch maintenance right after starting — now that's really annoying. Guess I'll catch up on my tv backlog instead.

  8. It's always funny to hear people talk about brand popularity when it comes to niche products. People need to remember that needing servers, especially at a large scale, is a niche service and is marketed to the tech industry, not the general consumer. How a regular consumer sees the market and popular brands is just not compatible with server services because the population in question and their needs are strictly different.

Just got resubed on june 30th and I forgot how great the crafting is so now I'm leveling up all my DoH/DoL and I'm 20 MSQ into heavenward and excited as fuxk and asmon was a pretty big reason why. But the game is good and I haven't even began my adventure and I cant wait.

  10. Just for clarification for anyone reading and watching this.

The "Login Queue" you see where it's only 20-50 people each time you boot up the game isn't actually a regular queue, it's a new system the dev team implemented with Shadowbringers that groups players that are connecting into chunks, this way the game can load in up to 50 people at a time with a single action, rather than taking a single action to load in every player individually. This helped smooth an issue that occurred before, when too many players decided to log in at once, it would cause server instability and lag. If you see your login queue reach 100+ people, THAT'S when you know your server is full and you have to wait for people to log out for you to play.

The game is definitely getting traction now, but hopefully the dev team's experience and actual willingness to improve their game will make this a non issue. For instance, Stormblood's launch was an absolute nightmare, it was so horrible to the point where in your MSQ, you had to talk to Raubahn to progress, but due to server instability and the mass of players trying to do the quest, every time you talked to him, it would just boot you back out, earning it the nickname/in joke "Raubahn Extreme/EX" But when Shadowbringers launched, the team used what they learned and got cloud servers up to temporarily increase server stability and capacity during the hype period. The worst thing that happened in Shadowbringers was being put into a queue of a few hundred people, but even then it went by pretty quickly. (The longest I've ever waited in a queue of around 500 people was about 10-15 minutes)

You can see them taking measures right this moment. We had a quick maintenance just now where they turned on another feature they created during Shadowbringers, a simple 30 minute AFK kick timer. So if anyone has experienced a several hundred player queue recently and it took 30+ minutes to get you in, this should alleviate that down to the 10-15 minutes that Shadowbringers had.

The overnight Town AFKers will have to turn their computers off for the first time in years. Be nice and let the people that are actually trying to play the game get their fill.

  11. I'm on Lamia and have had zero issues. Granted my PC is brand new and firmly planted in the mid range, but there's been no issue with lag or delay. Main cities (I'm a sprout) are busy, sure … but I haven't dropped a single frame.

However I did intentionally avoid Asmongold's server, and i did the same in WoW (yes you converted another one).

Any streamer will have this impact.

  12. I got my start on Everquest ages ago. Moved to WoW about a month after it launched and quit a week after Cataclysm, so, roughly 10 years ago. Sometime between then and now I beat a bunch of Star Wars class storylines. I eyed Final Fantasy for years but never bit but for some reason, I just happened to get the MMO itch about a week ago and it was either try FF or go back to Star Wars and FF was on sale in the summer sale. 48.8 hours played later, I'm pretty well hooked so far.

  13. My only issue is the higher than usual number of strangers trying terribly to flirt with my character. Hint: prostratingyourself before me, then blowing a kiss is not how to do it. Trying to kiss my feet even less so.

  14. I am a "WoW Refugee", picked up 14 a couple months ago to try it out. I have since finished the story, have 3 80s, doing Zadnor etc. I have watched a lot of videos and I am absolutely blown away by the ff14 Dev team and the community time and time again. I feel like the Dev team cares about all its players, including me, and the community has welcomed as a friend with open arms. So much so that canceling my WoW was easy, and im sticking with FF14 for the foreseeable future

  15. I'll be a new sprout in less than 10 hours, and I'm pretty hyped for it.

Excited for PvE, and PvP despite some of the bad things I've heard about PvP. Hoping Dark Knight can clap the way I want him to on the front line, but I'll have to see what melee classes there are. As long as the game can keep my hyped to continually beat the hell out of stuff up close and personal, while looking good doing it? I'm sold.

  16. I’m a wow refugee that started payed through steam about 4 days ago. I was actually hesitant to try FFXIV when the hype first hit specifically because of asmond. I try to avoid anything he touches. He just carries enough fandom that whatever his gaze lands in tends to be swarmed with locus like behavior. It’s not his fault. It’s not their fault. It’s just the truth of his digital reach.

9.1 came out and I was bored by week 2. Drug myself on for a few more weeks and gave up and tried ffxiv. I’m having a blast. It’s like being back on the newbie log in Nektulos Forest collecting bone chips for my Necromamcer while wonder how a grass snake could kick me(Everquest). It’s that newbie smell that hasn’t been there for decades.

  17. Could careless about what streamers do… I just need a game to play after work for that doesn't feel like a chore which wow has become. I started a free trial cuz I am locked into wow for a few months then when that money is freed up I will switch.
