  1. LA HEE! Now that that's outta my system, I was waiting for this video! And it did not disappoint! I love your thoughts on the characters and the plot, it's very insightful! You guys question things and theorize which is a VERY good attitude to have with this game! I can't wait to continue seeing your journey through FFXIV! And beyond of course! I'll definitely stick around! Happy Wednesday, my dudes!

  2. It was explained a bit earlier during the Gaius return cutscene but the three main Ascians, Elidibus, Lahabrea and Emet-Selch are unsundered. The other Ascians were sundered and aren’t as powerful as those three. That’s why they’re called the Paragons of the Source.

  3. The whole disconnect between Kyle and Val's feelings, when Y'shtola took a dive, is solely down to that thing that Garrett touched on: You the Player can observe the way the Narrativium field is moving, while You the Character can not. The Player knows there would be no conceivable way Y'shtola would go out like that. The Character, however, is still reeling from the fact that another very good friend just sacrificed themselves in front of them. The Character is probably reliving the pain of the Bloody Banquet and Haurchefant. Those flashbacks in-game are the Character running that scene through their head over and over and over, trying to see if there was something they could have done to stop it, trying to find some way they could have saved her, or still can… and that's when the gust of wind triggers the memory, and you are able to find the solution.

  4. Shadowbringers had a Launch Trailer premiere at E3 2019 which is a super cut of lore beats. It was the first time people saw anything specific on the MSQ content…and ends with Emet’s line of ‘oldest and most powerful of Primals’. The level of spoilers in this trailer got flack and SE avoided any big spoilers during the Endwalker hype

  5. I’ve always said, some of the best villain/antagonists are ones that you could relate to. Like you would do the same thing if it was you almost. I actually don’t really call Emet a villain, to be honest. Zenos is a villain. He just wants to watch the world burn. But Emmett? He’s just different.

  6. About "are Ascians split or still whole" this did until the point you're at in the story already get somewhat answered in the Japanese version by different Ascians having different titles depending on whether they are split or not but the English translation for that was inconsistent so it's not completely clear in the English version and never really gets explained

  7. I am sincerely enjoying watching your journey through this game and I look forward to the day you get some of the answers you seek. Some in Shadowbringers, some in Endwalker. But yes, "Hop on Pop" is thematically important and there is a reason why, in Pokemon, I had a Tsareena nicknamed "Hydaelyn".

  8. OMG A REFERENCE TO BLACK&WHITE!!!!! I FREAKIN LOVED THAT GAME!!!! Nobody knows about that game, much less PLAYED it. It pains me because I still have my old discs but they dont work with modern computers, and there is no port or gaming service that sells it. If there is a way to play this game in modern times I would love to know!(Oddly enough my favourite creature was the Cow… Black or White)

  9. The Light/Dark thing is an interpretation. There is the Umbral and the Astral as elements (like fire, water, etc). The sentient races have assigned these elements colors, like red for fire, blue for water, and so on. On the source, they have assigned umbral to darkness and light to astral. On the first, they assigned light to umbral and darkness to astral. So, taking the cultural differences into account the Warrior of Light on The Source would be the same thing as the Warrior of Darkness on The First, Hydelyn would be a being of darkness on The First, and so on.

  10. This is so fitting. I was having a chat with my FC leader just a minute ago, and had to excuse myself momentarily to go to another zone. When he asked why I said I couldn't think straight, all that was in my brain was lahee. And then this pops up in my notifications.

  11. So fun fact, there I was caffinated beyond reason as I was dozing off from expac launch. before entering ratika
The LA HEE woke me up.
Finding out LA HEE literally means WAKE UP. when I learned that I got a cackle thinking back to that moment of entering that zone.

  12. Reminder that the devs thought that particularly bomb drop was insignificant enough to warrant it making it into the launch trailer for the expansion. Just…let that sink in.
