In this first video of a three parter I go over my choices for the next caster in FFXIV. I will be making two choices, one from the FF series, and the other inspired by the MMORPG genre.

Thank you so much for watching this video.
My channel is focused on player perspective content, gameplay, theory’s and importantly game lore for Final Fantasy XIV.
As this channel has grown my goals have evolved but ever do they remain the same, the creation of videos that mean to bring a smile to a viewers face or provide them with even one piece of useful information.

I mean to live up to these goals and the time you have taken to watch my content.

  1. Time mage is possible but could be hard to implement. Geomancer is a possibility as they have already been shown in the world. Honestly, I'd like to see the first magical melee class in the form of a (depending on which game you draw inspiration from) mage knight/mystic knight that enchants its melee strikes with fire, ice, lightning, poison, bio, sleep, drain, holy etc. somewhat like a melee red mage.

If jobs are drawn from previous titles, there are also the berzerker/viking, ranger, or evoker and a few others that would likely feel redundant.

  2. I would love necromancer so much, but I think reaper ate its thematic cake a bit too much. Not just for using voidsent, as there are forms of necromancy in FFXIV that dont use voidsent, but also due to the concept of reaping souls. But who knows, if theres any time to get it, its when the msq is finally looking to the void.

  3. I think the Calculator job from tactics makes sense to me. It becomes the DoT mage for the caster slot and it has abilities to increase either the damage dealt by the dots or increase DoT length.

  4. I don't see it. Time Mage's themes are already intruded upon by AST, and using a bell would screw over any future Geomancer job. Necromancer was already beaten to the punch completely by Reaper.

There are better ideas for future new jobs. In Endwalker we just uncovered a new realm of magic with Dynamis, that could easily factor into something. And WoL still has the Azem stone, and through it could easily unlock some sort of job that uses Ancient creation magic.

  5. seeing in the comments. But we all agree on a DOT based kind of Job next, Them rework SMN so well leaves them a nice spot to do something with it. So, my guess will be Geomancer with DOT based skills. We can all come back to this video and see if we were right about the DOTS thing. Its just so obvious that they would make a class around it cause of that rework on SMN.

  6. Time mage is actually the job that is more fitting to have DoTs. After all, what could be more fitting to a time mage than spells that damage over *time*? A personal buff would be an oGCD that instantly applies all of the damage of a DoT instead of over time.
