  1. The worst part is one single cough illegal item cough fixes this entire thing.

It works for most duties including dungeon (not PvP) and MAYBE the latest Ultimate/Savage that they want to encrypt the last phase model of (Like the DRU/DSR final boss when people tried to load it/datamine outside of the instance).

"I'm sure there are technical reasons and something in the game's code that makes it so that it can only these particular instances."
…uhh… though… "My Uncle works at Nintendo" powers and through no way actually datamining or hacking that game… can I confirm that it is not the case.
    *cough*.

  2. lmao wtf is going on with the hate comments, this video is great to showcase just how great the feature would be if they cared. It's not "just a way to record footage", it can be much more given how it parses all player and enemy actions, essentially a souped up gpose… such a wasted potential

  3. theres a plugin called arealmrecorded that allows essentially any instance to be used with the duty recorder. its also adds additional functionality with gpose, speed controls, and a seekable timeline. pretty nifty thing.

  4. I generally hope they just scrap this thing with 7.0. It just feels like a waste of time. I keep forgetting it exists until someone complains about how pointless the system is.

  5. Here's my unhinged tinfoil hat theory for Duty Recorder; FF14 1.0 spaghetti code is why Duty Recorder is so limited…

The other unofficial reason that's more logical, is that the devs don't want to do it for LITERALLY everything else that's instanced content…

  6. It's not like you could just use it on a whim either. Everyone in the instance needs to have this unlocked, explicitly enabled in the menu, then you need to use this special ready check thingy and actually wait for everyone to be ready before anybody else starts to rush in to start recording.
Got 1 person who is impatient or just doesn't care? Welp, tough luck. No duty recording for you~. The hurdles to use this feature are just way too high…

By this point I don't know why they actually bother with this anymore.

  7. The one thing that would save this feature is if they allowed us to use a developer mode with this feature that allows us all of the other features you can normally do with recording software, plus other various things like making it relevant for high end content like for movement lines made for each player participating in the instance. (Could be a good way to clean up unnecessary movement in groups. Also a way so we can observe how the team plays with each other. I even have a name for it already.) Lol

  8. I know you're not someone who uses mods, but there is a newish mod on Dalamud that will record any duty in the game using the existing Duty recorder features. I've even played back some recent Dragonsong runs, it's pretty neat!

  9. You know, I remember that enrage being part of the Euphrosyne trailer. Real bummer that mechanic is locked behind an enrage that mostly nobody has ever seen, even on day 1. :/

  10. SE is so terrified that people will use duty recorder to cheat or exploit mechanics, but they just need to realize that people do this already anyway and allow it to be used in current content.
