Ah yes, billboards. The modern mans novel, they tell you everything you need to get by in today’s consumer-driven world: where to eat, where to drink, who to call when you break the law, and of course, which Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game Beach Party Role Play events to go to. At least, that must have been how Rain Nightclub must have seen it. This Final Fantasy XIV free company went viral in the community earlier this year for it’s out-of-the-box advertising strategy, wherein they rented multiple real-life billboards in order to advertise their in-game event. This quickly blew up in their face, as it turns out a number of the assets used in the billboard violated the game’s material usage rights, including the fact that they used official game assets and logos on a REAL LIFE BILLBOARD. The community was torn over whether this was hilarious or about to result in a crack down from Final Fantasy 14’s publisher, Square Enix, and most importantly, would the beach party still go ahead? All of these questions and more answered in today’s video.

  1. (0:30) Well not all games are required to. ESRB is handled by USA, and also used in Canada and Mexico.
It's so weird watching your channel, because it's like it's made in USA, ignoring the rest of the world.

  2. Honestly, the placement of the billboard wasn't a bad idea. Missouri City is right off Houston and Sugarland so a lot of people would probably be playing. I have several friends in that area that are regulars in the game.

  3. As an aside, Square Enix will ban the shit out of you if they catch you buying gil for real world money. One of their favorite tricks is to leave the gil banks alone as honeypots and the ban people who trade with them a few months later so it's not obvious which banks are being watched.

Personally I despise gil buyers so I have no issue with this. Gil is actually way more useful in FFXIV than say gold in WOW, there are some things that require massive amounts of items where the only realistic way to collect them all is to buy them off other players for in game money.

  4. I don't know how to say it but…
I'd rather fuck real people than avatars with animations that clearly weren't made for these kind of interactions.

That being said, I do admit, that many FFXIV characters are gorgeous. I just don't get the ERP component, that some people seem to be really into. Maybe I'm too old for this.

  5. You can play through A Realm Reborn and heavensword for free, if you've never, ever applied a product key to your account. The instant you do that, you get locked out of the free experience and must continually pay monthly to play through what others get to play through for free.

Meanwhile World of Warcraft's free trial content is available to play through on accounts that had previously paid for the game & Game Time.

  6. You know a games good if the mods have sex and nudity. Meaning they allow fans to customize it the way they want and you can have limitless replay value. Plus who doesn't love some animated nudity lol
