  1. I much prefer Stormblood. Heavensward's story was good and the side content was great, the thing i just couldn't enjoy was how downwashed, boring & bleak the colour palettes for the areas were. I live in a country where that's already how everything looks and i don't enjoy it, and i definitely don't wanna see it in games. It's just boring and depressing to look at. I play games to escape from real life, not to be surrounded by it there as well.

  2. I feel this was needed. Some people saw the Lulu clip and started spazzing thinking Nobbel didn't like the game.

Edit: I'm not blaming Lulu, guys. I'm blaming the people in the comment section that get super defensive about FFXIV <.>

  3. ARR Had a wonderful and well-set up story that focused primarily on world building, but it did so through very antiquated and mundane questing / mechanics and accompanied by mediocre VA. Strill trying to work up a video about it myself.

  4. I really tire of the "ARR IS TERRIBLE YOU GUISE" meme, and I did it before it was shortened. As a serial MMO hopper, I can say with confidence that it was still a far better experience than vast majority of mmo's out there. Sure, a lot of chores and archaic MMO design thingies, but if anything, it adds more charm to me. You start as a quite literally, a nobody. You don't become warrior of light overnight. And the characters and world building, my god, without it all, there's no way in hell I'd enjoy the rest of the game as much as I did.
People shitting on ARR either must've played only 10/10 masterpieces thorough their life, which I doubt, or have an attention span of a toddler, in which case, ARR does a hell of a job filtering them out. OR, I suspect, people throw themselves into a singular goal of finishing it and does absolutely nothing else, never try the systems in the game, jobs, side activities and other content. Yes, content. This might be a shocker to some of you, but you don't need to rush to "muh endgame" to experience content and have fun. Entire game is a god damn game, shocker, right? How could this possibly be? You mean the last designated raid tier graciously added by the devs isn't the only content you can do? Woaaaaaah.

  5. You have to understand that ARR used to be MUCH, MUCH worse. Literally hundreds of filler MSQ quests were cut. People that say ARR is terrible are people that leveled up during The Dark Days(tm).

  6. I don't know how ARR was back in the days, but I will still say that the main story in ARR is just not good. Yes, it has a lot of worldbuilding, but a lot of it really only pays off in the later expansions that probably had barely an outline when ARR itself was written. Stories like this need good characters and ARR just doesn't have them. The Scions are just there, the villains are not interesting and while there are some good side characters, they can't carry a plot they are largely absent from. I would say that the game really only opens up in the 2.x patches when the game decides to actually develop the scions themselves and in the process gives you a reason to care about the organization.

  7. I dont remember the exact quote but someone named anonymoose put it best when he said that it started as a fear of players wanting people to see the quality of HW and not quit mid-Arr and slowly the sentiment warped and twisted from "the base game is good and it gets so much better, so while it does have faults, please bare with them to see whats on the other side" to "ARR is so bad, it gets better lmao"

    Glad your enjoying the game

  8. ARR isn't as bad as people make out because Square removed and reworked a lot of the questlines to significantly improve the ARR experience, many people who warn about ARR experienced the original ARR.

  9. well stated, when your experience ARR and then HW in a short amount of time its staggering the quality. You can really tell in all aspects the game shaped sooooo nicely to what it has become today.

  10. As someone that plays FFXIV on a daily basis and has paid full attention to the story.. Even after HW you will catch things falling back to ARR up to lvl 90 content.. I love to see peoples honest opinion. I think that people are saying that this guy hates it didn't really understand what he was saying in this video or didn't watch it all the way to the end. Its clear that he understands the story and where its taking him and even though the questing is something that is arduous, he has thus far enjoyed the content.

  11. People need to stop saying ARR is bad. ARR is literally the foundation of the entire story and if it wasnt set up like it was, the monumental payoffs that happen later in the story wouldnt be nearly as good or impactful.

  12. It’s different strokes for different folks then because I was bored to hell through ARR, and I played it in Japanese which doesn’t use any type of poetic language. Yes guys, if you get annoyed with the flowery talk that’s entirely localization, the Japanese is pretty much full on modern language.
