  1. What's really crazy about "Answers" is that it was written back around 2012 and the full meaning of its lyrics weren't clear until the release of Endwalker 9 years later. It's unclear just how much of the story they had planned out back then, but the payoff for this song is so satisfying, especially for someone who's had it on their playlist for the last decade.

  2. An overlooked gem of storytelling would be Tsukuyomi's theme – as a whole, all phases combined.
    Obvious spoilers ahead!
In stormblood we meet an acting viceroy of empire, beautiful, heartless witch delighting in seeing people suffer. Even though she comes from Doma, which was under empire occupation for quarter decade, she is proudly working for the "bad guys".
You get to learn her past later on; her parents, to secure safety under empire's boot, licked it well, their son sent to study in there, indoctrinated. Her, as a girl unfit to win occupamt favors, bore no value to them, so they sold her to courtesan house, whete she was hated and abused. Empire people treated her as savage, untermensch even, and Domans saw her family as traitors. She climbed to top through her wit, beauty, espionage, harboring deep disdain to everyone.
The track for Tsukuyomi fight is composed with a courtesan charm, but overlayed on empire's hymn with interloping oriental, doman theme.
She belongs nowhere and the song (and fight) show it: neither in empire using her as tool, nor Doma that disowned her. The melodies mix but push each other out, not working together.
Even if there's small spark of want to be acknowledged, decades of disdain cannot be undone.

  3. I was just picking up my fresh, hot cup of tea, while thoughrily enjoying the music… Then fart machine. Needless to say, a good portion of tea ended up on my desk. Perfect.

  4. I would love to watch Geebz experience FF14 from start to finish but that would be about a 400hr commitment in a game genre he's never played before. FF14 is definitely a top 3 story of all time, and music is pretty much GOATed too

  5. Sokan is a music legend… Has composed over 200+ songs for this game all of them different than the last. Deserves every praise, but Nobuo is the one who did the first one. Answers also by Nobuo is a legend of a song, he can be pretty picky so pausing quite a bit during it is required otherwise. Its one of my favorites in the game next to Scream in the current pandemonium raids.

  6. Goddamnit, this game is making me cry again and I’m not even playing it rn 😂
Susan Calloway sang “Answers” freakin’ perfectly and she never fails to make me emotional.

  7. The compositions for FF14 are just pure magic. You hear so many of them in different arrangements throughout the game just doing everyday things, but the real power is most definitely reserved for the title themes of each expansion. Despite hearing similarly themed tracks over and over again by doing repeated activities, the music never grows stale, which is a testament to just how much care they put into making something truly timeless.
