Hello there and welcome to another “So you picked” episode , this one is focusing on the Thaumaturge class, the other starter caster DPS class, like the previous episodes we’re gonna be looking at the basic Toolkit you have at level 15, then heading into the field for solo combat then diving into a controlled group content. Hope it helps shed some light onto the basic workings of Thaumaturge.

Why not include the spells you get at higher levels like the aoe dot and fire aoe and lucid dreaming.
I am completely new so bare with me.
I was told you don’t use lucid dreaming because it messes with your rotation but to me that doesn’t make sense because the extra regen would allow you to stay in fire for longer?
Also how important is keeping your thunder dot on the target? Is it important to maintain, if so why not lead with that spell on a boss or target that will live that duration? Or is it more like a filler spell until you get back to fire?
hey, this video really helped me. i am definitely interested in seeing more videos of other classes and jobs and going further than level 15. i have been struggling to find good and actual beginner videos. so i hope you will keep making them.
Thank you so muchfor this beginner video, perfect for me. Have just started FFIV in ARR, picked a Thaum because I don't play casters:) This has made the job seem so much less intimidating!
I used to die so much as black mage, got much better and easier after I got my chocobo to tank and heal for me.
As a WoW refugee that picked up FFXIV a couple days ago, I settled on Thaumaturge, was totally confused with the big meter thing that came up. So I watched a handful of different videos, and this was the one that finally put it in a way that made sense to me. I had been just alternating between fire and ice because I had no idea when to switch, thanks for this!
brother keep this up! this is the kind of bite-size info we need out there for FF14, I looked for a video like this for the past couple of days and yours is by far the best to jump in to
Thank you for actually having a beginner’s guide that actually starts from the beginning. A lot of people who make beginners guides for the classes/jobs don’t start from the very beginning, at best they’ll start with a max level black mage and they’ll go over each skill & how they work but even that can still be information overload and make new players confused about skills
Very helpful video! Thank you!
Awesome info, thanks a bunch!
This was very helpful. Thank you
good video
Still don't understand during the umbral ice rotation why you cast thunder instead of another ice, anyone elaborate? Thanks
Thx for this:)
Completely new so this might be a daft question, but would it be beneficial to swap between astral and umbral using transpose while out of combat (stance CD seems to reset).. So you're in umbral while walking between mobs then you swap to astral and buff your first fire attack?
so what transpose does.. it switches but for what?
Great video
Thanks alot for the Video
I just came to say ty finally man!!!!!
Only a newbie Thaumaturge myself, BUT… Wouldn't it make more sense to open with Blizzard > Umbral Ice > Thunder > Transpose > Fire spam This would let the Thunder make better usage of the 18sec DoT. Or maybe even skip the Blizzard.
Thanks! was very helpful
F wow
This was very very helpful! Thank you!! I really did appreciate the slower explanation to kind of let things sink in/learn especially as my first real attempt at an MMO. Thanks again! Excited to try this out now!
Very useful, thank you.
I haven't played FF14 in a while, this was a great refresher for the class/job. Thanks!
Thanks so much mate just started this game today and chose this job. This has helped me a ton u deserve more subs. And love the accent by the way, geordie lad here too
why would you not cast lightning first to keep the dots on them?
this fire guide
I know you linked to the artist, but which song is the outro song? That track is bangin'
