Should We Switch to Japanese Servers? Despi surprised by FFXIV Population

Even though I gave “Diabolos – Crystal” a try.
Japanese Data Centers could be the most populated.
Which might be the solution to bad PvP Queue Times.

  1. In Unicorn, we have decently populated hub cities. But japanese rarely communicate publicly so although you may find people standing around everywhere, it's still a very quiet and lonely environment. You'd have to find a company to get the feelings of playing MMOs.

  2. Japanese can be active in the end-game thing, but it doesn't mean that they are sociality active.

You will mostly find out that even a place which has hundreds of players at the same time, there's basically NONE comunication between each other, they barelly speak with themselfs, and they are mostly single player active.

  3. Sounds like a bad idea tbh. From what I've seen/heard the JP servers are less communicative in general and you should probably know japanese

  4. Eym, the game is active on every DC, as far as I know. I've played on NA and EU and it was really bustling! Also, lag and language barriers are a thing. So…yeah, no, sounds like a weird idea.

  5. i can tell you, JP server is active as in content-related. but socially it is very silent, i had to move my character from Mana to Elemental since there are a lot more english speaking there

EDIT: Also, the culture will be so different drastically than what you have in NA & EU, if you're trying to play in JP you might want to consider that.

  6. I don't think this data really supports the conclusion that you've drawn. There isn't any data specific to pvp available atm, so you're basically just going off of the endgame character count. And the endgame character count is just how many people have completed the 6.0 MSQ. The data also suggests that there are more endgame players, playing on NA servers than on JP servers. So if you've already tried NA and aren't having success there, I doubt you will have more success on the JP servers with ~140k less endgame characters. The problem really does seem to be as simple as, people either aren't playing ranked, or you're queueing at the wrong time. Also, I've heard recently that people prefer Primal for pvp in NA.

  7. I'm on LightShiva but not participating on Endgame in term of Savage Raids (as I would interpret it). I would be interested but my competitive days are behind me and I would not want to hold others back with my incompetence. 😛

  8. I agree with what people have written about the JP servers…although crowded in the typical locations, it isn't as noisy as say NA (I used to be on Primal). Going lone wolf will make the experience a challenge especially if you do not know the language. Anyway, if you are still interested to jump on to a JP server and can find way to get onto Mana/Asura, you are always welcome to join my FC…LOL…it is super small but we have both English and Japanese speaking players…We can at least prep you for the way things are done here…that way you won't feel like a "fish out of water" if you do decide to play over here…

  9. As a recent sprout who started on Unicorn/Meteor Japanese data center ive had fun playing lots but alot of the time even when I try initiate conversation Japanese never really talk back nice when I've messed up a quick pull or something im not gonna get yelled at for learning but its rather quiet and lonely sometimes not talking to anyone even if its just text 😅

  10. AU player who moved to Oceanic realms when they opened, was playing on JP beforehand. Considering going back to JP because OCE is a bit dead.

You can get by in JP quite easily, a lot of english speakers either stayed or went back there.
