Rowena's npc traders trade a grindable currency for old gear for when you're leveling jobs
There's also materials for currently craftable gear and a limited weekly currency for current gear
Her shop is also related to almost(?) all Relic weapons
Those include the most grindy boring quests you can do in the game and the only reward is a cool looking weapon until the expansion ends and it becomes the best weapon of the game until a new expansion releases
Man, I think Durmin's hit all the major stories in Stormblood, hasn't he? What else is left? A message from Krile arrives about a expedition oh… oh no…
I love the swapping between heavy story stuff and the Doman Reconstruction quest, gives it a nice break inbetween.
21:13 DAN. XD.
Happy Final Fantasy Friday, everyone 🎉
Today's question is: how was your Thanksgiving?
Not much to add here. Just again being thankful that this questline exists.
We're back to the Doman Enclave today Playfriends! This is your spoiler free lore comment!
The dichotemy of the Yard covers two important issues with nation building. Doma needs to be able to locally manufacture tools of their trade. Not only is there ample demand, but the tools are needed desperately just to conduct the reconstruction. Without a local source for these tools, Doma will be reliant on charity or be forced to purchase them on the open market, which could rapidly drain their funds. Being able to produce tools also helps kickstart the artisan work going on in the Yard. But that's not to say that Araragi is wrong, because he isn't! Doma also needs exports. Doma needs funds (although the game's mechanics don't follow this) and is currently relying on charity to simply function. Doman paper has a long standing reputation for quality, so the market already exists for the product. Having exports will fund anything that the Yard can't manufacture and normalize future relations with trade partners. Doma won't be seen as a nation begging for aid, but someone who will stand shoulder to shoulder with others, which will continue well after the Reconstruction is complete. Both products of the Yard are needed for Doma to have a future.
5:15 – Playfriends, if you're also doing the Doman Reconstruction, remember, click the basket. Kozakura's dialogue doesn't change much, but if you're capped for the week, she'll chime in to stop you only when you click the basket. The basket is where the game has its check. This won't help Dan, since he's recorded this weeks ago, and he's going to be donating every week anyways.
18:55 – Those who enter into contracts with Rowena's House of Splendors must be wary. She has a reputation as a shark for a reason, but in many cases where the Warrior of Light is concerned, it tends to be overblown. While a woman seeking to expand her ever growing trade empire, let's not forget that Rowena is supporting the Menphina's Arms orphanage in Idlyshire (and not as a sweatshop, a legit orphanage). M'naago's custom deliveries also reveal that, through her niece Galiena, The House of Splendors is also supporting the Ala Mhigan reconstruction and the Widows and Orphans fund for the Resistance. While one might claim that Rowena is seeking to take advantage of both Ala Mhigo and Doma, people don't utter her name with the same contempt as Lolorito's. Read the contracts, challenge her margins, but at the end of the day, Rowena wants a good deal, and a good deal can benefit both parties.
Playfriends, since we've discussed Rowena's House of Splendors today, let's also talk about another of her new projects: the opening of Sui no Sato. One of Rowena's lalafellin employees, Sanana, was rescued from the roiling Ruby Sea by the people of Sui no Sato, and has sparked an idea in the Ruby Princess. But first, let's maybe cover the recent changes in Sui no Sato.
When Durmin last departed Sui no Sato, the isolated community was administered by Shiosai, the high priest from the palace Shisui of the Violet Tides. But one of the Ruby Princess's handmaidens, Kurenai, needs help! The truth is that a mysterious stranger, clad in black, had been granted audience with the Ruby Princess, and now the Palace is closed to all. Only Kurenai and Shiosai escaped. Realizing that this man was almost certainly a Ascian, the Warrior of Light follows Kurenai's directions and infiltrates Shisui of the Violet Tides, eventually defeating the voidsent that is controlling the Ruby Princess. But she will still not awake, and that is when Kurenai reveals the whole truth: SHE is the Ruby Princess, and the woman who slumbers is her body double and lady in waiting, Hisui. Sensing that the Ascian might not be truthful with them, Hisui swapped for the Ruby Princess, as the two had done many a time. But to wake her dearest friend, Kurenai is willing to do what the previous Ruby Princess was not: travel to the surface. With the Warrior of Light's help, Kurenai obtains the ingredients for an ancient remedy that breaks the curse on Hisui. And so, this Princess under the sea returns to her Palace, but her mind is on places up in the sun.
Patch 4.3 brings an uncommon sight to Tamamizu: the Ruby Princess's lady in waiting. Or rather, that's what most believe, it's Kurenai, sneaking out with Hisui's aid. And this time, she's got Sanana's help for her next project: undoing the isolation of Sui no Sato. But this will be no easy feat, because she has to overcome traditionalists in her kingdom while fending off exploitative merchants who would loot Sui no Sato for every last gil. This is where Sanana comes in, as she uses Rowena's contacts (and fearsome reputation) to secure favorable trade deals. Kurenai ends up procuring foreign medicine for the ill, warmer clothing for the old, and new harpoons for her hunters to ward of dangers of the deep. But her plans did not escape the notice of Shiosai, who demands that the Ruby Princess return to the palace, dragging Hisui with him. But after a quick switch, Kurenai and Hisui have become doubles, and managed to get a single surface trip out of Shiosai. With the "twin" flame haired princesses asking the Warrior of Light to be their guide, they manage to change Shiosai's mind and gain an ally in their cause. The final step in her custom deliveries is the realization that Sui no Sato has something the entire surface world is clamoring for: deep sea pearls and gems. With Sanana helping negotiate the deals, Sui no Sato is ready to become part of our world again!
And yes, Kurenai (and Hisui) is a red haired undersea princess, so most of her quest names are references to The Little Mermaid. And upon finishing her questline, she asks you to give her fashion advice and dress her up.
Today's episode has completed the patch 4.3 section of the Doman Reconstruction. The next time Durim comes to help them rebuild, it will be from the patch 4.4 section!
