There’s an important conversation going on about addons right now, both in FFXIV and WoW, let’s see what Preach has to say about it.

Ban QoL ones? No.
Ban Raid solving ones? Yes.
there. that is the answer.
add is a curse and a blessing. But yes all i care about is my Elvui anything else i can live without. Waiting until blizz ui is good enough to replace Elvui
13:25 Well at least you are honest about it. Watch people try to justify their position via sophistry and subjectivity.
Anything that makes the fight easier, definitely banned forever. UI mods, visual shaders I don't mind
Ban every last one of them. Even with the ToS and the banhammer over their heads people were getting frisky with them. Addon users and creators have no self control and if allowed they will make addon gameplay mandatory.
WoW add-ons broke a lot of mmo players.
Ese atuendo me vuelve loco mikujava.Monster loco contigo y tienes ese cuerpo curvilíneo, hiciste un buen trabajo modelándolo también. También me gusta el último atuendo. Me encantaf cómo los cinturones de liga se.
Yes add-ons should be banned as they take away the developers encourage to improve their game. It also amplifys the toxicy of players
If SJW's Cancel Culture Twitter hate everyone everything political activists get to destroy an online MMO…nope. Gamers are just trying to survive the downfall of humanity.
if people make the argument that its just like a raid leader calling out mechanics… then why don't they just have a raidleader to call it out? problem solved no addons needed.
I don't really care what people do with their copy of a game, but it's the basic rules of competition that getting help from an outside source invalidates any claim of skill or dedication you might have had. We even see other cases in the gaming community with speed running, cheating, no matter how small, is never tolerated; they even have standards for different system capabilities.
Let's be real, there's an income disparity between console and pc gamers, for example, I got a PS4 in 2017 for $70 USD, but my PC's parts in 2022 value around $2000 USD. It's always wrong to attack someone because they can't afford something.
I like my dps meter, I like my gshade (using AMD hardware to smooth out the graphics), and I like the mod that allows my Viera to wear a hand and has his tail.
My concessions to the devs if they want me to get rid of those. Make content harder. I want the MSQ to weed the bads out, meaning instead of ilvl they also have to clear it on a specific difficulty level as well. Pretty much tired dealing with people who cannot perform their job at a average level.
Then fix the models for Viera and hoethgar.
Gshade stays because I'm not using the gpus own software to fix the graphics.
About the use of ACT to harass people, if you listen to the recent Aetheryte Radio podcast (also on YouTube in video form) that talks about addons, there were multiple accounts of people who literally stopped raiding in FFXIV for a while because of being harassed for damage based on ACT. The wife of one of the hosts and one of the hosts. Just because you haven't seen it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
