  2. YoshiP's comment about "the same universe" feels like it's hinting at going to another shard after 6.0. As cool as it would be to see a whole expansion in the New World or Meracydia there's this mechanic in scriptwriting called hedonic adaptation. Basically once you raise the stakes in a story you can't lower them afterwards because the audience won't accept it. Rebooting on another shard lets them start the line graph from 0 again, the way you start out as a nobody on the First in ShB.

  3. I think it's very likely we're getting Gaia and Ryne back in the Source somehow. If it's the curtain call, they WILL find a way to tie two of the most memorable characters in.
If Thancred survives, his happy ending will definitely lie in the First acting as a dad for those two.

Y'Shtola has a big red flag over her head, but she also has Runar to go back to. This is what makes me think the First will come into play in END. Those two will need some closure and drama of Y'Shtola is biting the dust D:

  4. dont forget the void quest arc in the first, something about returning light to the 13th shard, as we returned darkness to the first, bringing unukalhai to the first to be with cyella, and organizing the firsts new warriors of light, granson, lue-reeq, cerigg and taynor, giott, those should come in for a future story as well, kinda goes back to the "using the tower to travel to other shards" type thing, and we know the tower already has a connection to the 13th

  5. I made a new character to derp around with some friends just getting into the game. Some of the dialogue Lahabrea says the first times you meet him make SO much more sense now, knowing what you know from Shadowbringers. And of course my friends thought he was just taking gibberish lol.

  6. SPOILERS FOR ROLE QUESTS

With the finale of the role quests hinting about curing the Thirteenth shard from darkness, with Unukalhai now on the First working with Beq-Lugg and the rest of the role quest cast, I'm hoping 6.1 to 7.0 would be about that?

  7. I'm glad the twins are getting so much attention, with us visiting their home city of Sharlayan and their father being in the Endwalker trailer, I love them dearly so I'm glad they are getting a sort of spot light this time around. HOWEVER, I feel like it's a common theme to put a lot of focus on specific individuals before you cut ties with them for good (whether that be by death or simply parting ways) and I don't know what I'll do if that happens with them…..

  8. Time travel, as it's established in xiv, would be genius to explain how you could remake the whole world but explain the old one still existing, since the changed timeline just goes on while the changed one then exists parallel to it.

  9. What would be a problem with a Scion dying – Trusts. So if one of them died, it'd need to either be very late in the Expansion or he/she be replaced I guess. Then again we can already use Ryne in Source-located Dungeons so maybe it won't matter after all

  10. Warm Take: I REALLY hope they don't implement time travel further in this game (as in us the WoL time travels, other characters who cares I guess) one of the things I like about this game as appose to other modern Final Fantasy's is it is not convoluted. I just think introducing Time travel opens up a Pandora's box of wacky writing that would cheapen everything we've done thus far IMO.

I also hope we don't travel to the other shards (as far as having entire expansions set there again), there is sooo much in Eorzea it would just be a waste in my opinion trying to craft new lore when who have literally 5 oceans worth of untapped lore.

Honestly they should just follow in FFXI's footsteps (ofc trailing off the beaten path to do their own thing too tho)

  11. Not gonna lie looking at the trailer it seems like its gonna be graha tia bc of what he says "i knew it the star still has secrets to tell take care my friend" idk if its us that might die or if its him but he is saying good by for a reason

  12. I cant wait for the feeling on release day. I guess it will feel like the big conclusion of an movie franchise, take Endgame for an example. Where everyone gathers to defeat the big evil of an arc. Me having vacation for a long time allows me to do it in one big ride which makes me very happy. But I am very scared about who might die. Anyways, im replaying the whole story rn. Have fun guys.

  13. I felt like the “travelling in time” might be a hint that they are doing to do a time jump. I think at the very end we will skip 5 years and the twins will have new models and be tall.

As for “undiscovered continents” — Perhaps with the death of hydelean/zodiark, all of the shards will be rejoined, but somehow instead of causing a calamity, the continents of all the other shards will be incorporated into the source itself. This would give us a whole new (now giant) map, while still being on our home planet. And of course… Norvrant will be accessible, allowing runar to reunite with yshtola and lyna to reunite with graha.

  14. I am pretty sure the Scions are all being retired, with perhaps the exception of Graha. I don’t think they are all going to die but I do think they are all going to just go off and do their own thing. The twins (or the surviving twin) and Krile will stay in the reformed forum with the twins or the surviving twin being visited in the future as an adult/adults. Yshtola, Urianger and Thancred will return to the first. Out of this trio Urianger and Thancred are most likely to die with Thancred having a little more plot armor due to his unfinished business in the first — I just don’t see Yshtola dying as her survival could come in handy for future expansions delving into the mystical arts, in my head she stays for the long haul hidden away to be visited on special occasions a la Matoya or to come warn us of danger in far off lands a la Luisoix. Eistenien will return to Merycidia to be featured in future storylines there — he may die but that’ would be a huge waste of future possible avenues into Merycidia. As far as motivation honestly the only character whose death would be crushing would be Tataru. She has always been the heart (and the purse) of the scions and her death would definitively motivate all remaining characters to action. Also there’s no clear “oh of course that’s what she’s going to do” path for her post-scions. Should they spare good old Tataru then Alphinaud would be the next choice of character but it would be the wrong play to make him die for motivation — if he’s going down he clearly deserves a hero’s death at the very end, to save us all.

  15. I don’t think it’s so much as main characters dying as people going their separate ways after the story is finished. If our character is going somewhere else for the next story not everyone would feel the need to join us for whatever reason

  16. I'm sure we are going to endure the greatest character loss in Endwalker. I've seen friends defend the twins saying they're too valuable to lose. But with a major arc coming to an end, who knows? I'm excited to see what they're going to do. I trust their story writing, although I do fear the end of the arc will be peak XIV and going forth will be the slow descent that all MMOs eventually endure. Not that this means that the game is or will be bad, or the story. But I'd view the next arc as a sequel of sorts. Sometimes it just doesn't as good as the first. But because of this, I'd tell the staff to go to town. Kill off major characters like one or some of the Scions.

  17. huh? thats interesting i assumed the crystal tower cant time travel anymore since we destroyed the artificial alexander. omega could also be because the triangle shaped ship on the logo looks like omega style tech to me.

  18. Some important characters might die? Considering Endwalker has FF4 inspiration… inputting a bunch of space for spoilers…

It doesn't look good for the twins. Though the only party member to die for real was Tellah the sage. So maybe the sage job tutor? Or mayhap the twins' father?
