  1. Ah lovely. Though this was something I played 4 years ago when it came out, that this is a free to play MMORPG for anyone up to level 80 (Shadowbringers) story is insane. This cannot be understated for those who don't play or know FFXIV: this content is made with paid quality and serious consideration. FFXIV is not designed as a "free MMO." You aren't leveling any slower, you aren't locked out of any gear, you aren't separated from the paid playerbase for any of the "expansion level" content that is free. The F2P level 1-80 experience is (almost) exactly as it was when I played 4 years ago, and for someone who hasn't done it, it's just as good to them as it was for me.

    I say almost with the differences possibly being beneficial to most:
    1) If you're not playing content on release, a lot of people of higher level are "synced" down meaning their gear is close to as good as possible for the content and as a player, they have a fair chance of already understanding what to do in fights. In other words, you're not experiencing the same difficulty as people who are truly running content blind, or so early that hardly anyone knows what to do and "learning the fight."
    2) Acquiring very close to the "best gear" (you literally can do the hardest content that exists just fine with it), is far easier when you're not playing at the leading expansion and most recent "patch" state. You only have one end game currency called Poetics, and you can earn an unlimited about per week; and are only limited in that you can only have 2000 tomestones of poetics at once. All that means is "spend it" before you max. Those of us playing the most recent expansion are working with other currencies, and probably limited to earning 450 of them a week. This is undoutedly a benefit unless you like grinding stupidly long for your gear.

  2. What a wild existence Ardbert lived through. Killing himself to travel to the source for the shadow of a hope to save his people. What an absolute legend. What a pure soul. What a pure existence. He deserves the star.
