Ya know. i donât really love Chris Rocks movies, but he is spot on. These streamers are famous for yelling at a camera and creating in-jokes and have no marketable talents, unlike Rock, who has many marketable talents. I vibe with him being brought into some streamer room for clout only to have NO idea what is going on. Itâd border on humiliating.
I will always call people out who do this. You cant get mad at someone for not knowing what to do if they've never been there! I get being annoyed at someone failing very basic mechanics repeatedly, but more often than not it's just that people don't know. And they can't know if no one tells them! There was an alliance raid i did recently where almost the entire B-Alliance group was sprouts and we didn't do a mechanic that we should have because most of us didn't know to do it. A bunch of people got really angry at the sprouts. It's so stupid and it doesn't help anyone. Just explain the mechanic if someone messes up!
âWe need to learn..â âfeel bad for sprouts..â what a weird view point to have that the only people deserving of patience are sprouts. Losing your sport after post shb doesnât mean you have a clue at whatâs going on at any point in the game, you can forget any mechanic from ARR to DT, and thatâs no oneâs fault. OR you can be bad at the game, to wit no one should be berated for. You getting frustrated at the wipe? Thatâs so sad for you, press the leave duty button if youâre gonna be aggressive over trying to teach nicely
Now watch everyone reply with something like âin a farming group..â âfor savage contentâ. Lol, as if I was talking about that kind of thing. Regardless, even if it is in these kinds of areas of the game, you arenât entitled to be rude to people. Again, leave. Find a group that meets your standards and purposes if you find yourself unwilling to teach someone. Iâm not saying youâre a d*%# for not giving people your time, but you ARE one if you take out your frustrations on people who you donât know at all
as a sge main, my pro tip is to start off every dungeon with an emote (i use lali-ho) and say something like "hey hope everyone is having a good night!"
it immediately sets the tone for the dungeon and anyone who has anything negative to say always thinks twice before saying it because it will immediately single them out as a jerk when they try.
remember to stand up for the people learning and struggling thru the game all! some players are just casual and renewing their subs for dawntrail. not everyone understands their entire kit. kindness goes a long way for everyone's overall enjoyment of the game!
(edit: i should add that SE has been doing their best to make the game accessible to disabled or differently abled people in general! not everyone has the same motor functions as you, and much of the game can be wonky on console as well! supporting your fellow players is part of the fun of an MMO đ)
When I play alts characters, I pretend I'm a noob. I'm always like: I'm new~*emotes* Even though I've done the dungeon many times. Lol I always get dead silence… đ€Ł
I remember tanking hullbreaker isle for the first time as a dk. I didn't know about the mimics yet and my healer was pulling them all for me. Also my healer was focusing on dps and not healing me through all the adds. When we wiped, the healer yelled at me for not using my mitigations properly. One of the dps immediately dropped out. I just stood still and went "afk" and watched as the healer tried to pull and tank the dungeon with the single dps remaining. Which of course they failed spectacularly at. These pro players are hilarious.đ
I've played FFXIV for 8 yrs this July 4th. And this is exactly what I went through when I first started game. My first MMO ever and I wanted to be a gladiator. My first dungeon I had two "mentors" with me. One told me to unsub, the other told me to uninstall the game. Here I am maining all tanks now.
Every time I see a sprout, I always try to be as patient and caring as possible. I donât know what theyâre going through and an MMO can be stressful when youâre new.
If its a sprout its whatever a lot of times but ive had runs where the sprout wouldnt listen and just wasnt tanking so the dragoon became the tank. Then there's players that are lv90 and are still just spamming cure 1 and small pulling. Not everyone has the time you do. Some people can only play a limited time a day and wasting in by being 40+ mins in a dgn is not ideal
I don't talk to people in dungeons anymore, especially the sprouts. When I provide them advice on how to make things easier or how to resolve mechanics, I always get some type of attitude or ignored. I have definitely run into some cool sprouts but that's less than a handful.
I'm always happy to help, but when I've told them mechs or how to play their class 10 times and they ignore me it does get frustrating. I once timed our Amarout because DRG wasn't listening to how the mechs work and died to every mech every time.
I remember my days as a sprout.. my first ever toxic player was a dragoon in cutter's cry.. I was a heal and didn't know the ram's/dragon's voice mechs, and when they got mad at me I just didn't heal them and let them floor tank hehe
Reminds me of when a healer was confused about Living Dead, so I took the time to explain how it works mid-dungeon. Of course, I had asked if they wanted a rundown and they accepted. It was nice, getting to explain arguably the least intuitive tank invulnerability (DRK) in simple terms. ^^
Just a heads up, you can use /nastatus off (or on) to add or remove your sprout icon. I keep mine on because sometimes I don't pay attention, and people are more forgiving of sprouts.
I feel so bad for Sprouts who don't know they can stand up to toxic players. We were all new once, we need to remember that.
We all have to learn and if you're not going to help, stay silent.

This is why I randomly inspect sprouts and try and help them out. They get enough hate from ass hole players. I wear my crown like an oath.

Just call him little sun and move on

True, FF14 players are sĂł toxic to New players

It's part of the game to have mechanics that some people fail. I just need to remember that for myself too. :'D
Completely valid…
Unless you're standing in every AOE with 0 effort to move out of the way in high level content, then I will probably leave you on the ground đ
Sounds like endgame music to me~

If you are not going to help the sprouts grow, do NOT speak unless you want to be yelled at.
Ever heard of the phrase, unless you have something nice to say, do not speak.
Im being nice by being honest with people & some people need the hard truth.
I'm Brazilian and I'm a mentor to the newbies, I'm the most respectful with them because I've been one too

Why dark knight, huh? Why is he a dark knight?
I caaant xD
Protec the sprouts so they can grow!
being rude to sprouts is like spoiling major msq plot points its a betrayal of the community especially in normal dungeons..
i love when sprouts pop off. i play on console so i cant type fast enough to pop off for them…
We shouldnât be expected to look up raids and fights before we even get there either.
