Red Mage had little changes but some welcome QoL and honestly it'd be hard to change anything without going to a SMN level rework. It's appropriate update i'd say.
This video is so great! I just came from work and the fuzz on the forums. Then I watched the trailer twice and I am flabbergasted about all the details I have missed that you show me right here.
I have never been a fanboy of anything in my life, but Red Mage is my deepest passion in a virtual environment and it does not wear off since over 2 years now. As I go through their animations frame by frame and take screenshots to GFX about I realized how perfect RDM is and you can see that SquareEnix has a sure bias in their development team for it 🙂 Updates like this makes it even better but I am also afraid of them taking away stuff. I am still a bit miffed about the root that has gone (would often help when the tank "forgot" to take aggro and you have to buy some time) and I hope they went with the "replace skill X of the same school of magic" route this time.
3:50 is a good example of your analyzis, because I do lots of GFXing about my Red Mages and always found the spells to be very pink instead of actually red. Now they are proper red and have more petal particles going on.
Also, after coming from GW2 with the mastery feature (getting better at things as you level to put it basic), I always thought what would happen if it would be possible to get over 100 Red Mana. I'd never even considered the fact they might just lower the cost which is basically the same.

Loving these details videos. So well done. I've been maining rdm since I started ffxiv in December last year and still didn't notice these details you mentioned in both your videos. Plus, you seem like a grounded, nice and funny guy, instant sub.
The red crystals don't buff anything. It's just a visual indicator to building up to ver holy/flare. 3 back to back enchanted moulinet's now give you the ability to case verholy/flare, scorch, and the other new ability.
Really sounds like they're trying to speed up RDM to go into melee more often. Quite liking it.
