  1. The reason this is very forlorn sounding is because the country in which you are in is completely war torn, and you're seeing the aftermath of that when visiting some of the cities. This area in particular was spared, but still part of the overall war.

  2. This one is such a beautiful, sad one, especially in context!
But as for bad songs, there are for now two songs in FF14 that I don't like at all and they both have something in common 😀 I don't think they'll ever get requested though, but we'll see!

  3. The music is a somber remix of two other FFXIV themes, both Garlean. The initial melody (the slightly jarring piano-synth-thing) is the Garlean anthem, "Imperial Will" that then transitions into the violin/vocal mix of "Penitus," the theme of the Praetorium dungeon.

It's notable because the Praetorium is the dungeon where we face off against Gaius van Balesar, and this entire quest series "The Sorrow of Werlyt" is about the failure of Gaius's ideology as a Garlean General in their war and how it all not only comes back to bite him personally but the effects it had on the ordinary folks of Werlyt.

  4. I was justtt about to request this as it's one of my favs but I couldn't watch the video it came with on youtube as it gives me motion sickness xD. I think it's such an interesting "town" theme which usually goes for something peaceful or generic. It's this beautiful seaside town and the first thing you hear is this somber piano and hints of war machinery in this seemingly peaceful landscape. I love the double bass (?) in this, how you can hear the bowing.

  6. And Love You Shall Find is such a somber track becauseTerncliff is a war-torn town long oppressed by the setting's Evil Empire (despite how peaceful the place looks in-game). The theme also is supposed to accompany one of the Imperial General's disillusion with the empire he served and the things he had done in service to it

  7. There is few versions of this music in the game as it's basically the "evil empire theme", believe or not. I definitely recommend Penitus which is one of these versions.

  8. So glad you did this one, it's one of my favourite ambient pieces from FFXIV, so melancholic but beautiful.
I don't normally request songs because I know how long your backlog of requests is, but sod it I'll shoot my shots. "Your Answer" is a boss theme from the newest expansion and is directly related to Answers so it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on that rendition of it, I'm sure it's already been requested but heyho! "Flow" is just another beautiful track, and "Close in the Distance" gives me a nostalgic feeling despite it being a new song. And whilst I'm here, I'll throw some Hollow Knight at you. "City of Tears" & "Nightmare King" are completely different but both great tunes from that game.
Ok I'm done, keep up the great work man it's a joy to watch you experience these great tracks for the first time.

  9. I love this song, but like it makes me a little sad too. There's a warmth to it but there's also this like… Emptiness to it, like there's a lot of notes that aren't being played if that makes any sense?

It sort of makes sense with the context of the story too, this is an area that was conquered by the Garlean Empire in the past, they've taken over the town and turned it into their own little military site. There's a whole culture of people here that are being suppressed and made to serve the empire, so that might be why the song is so subdued.

  10. thank you for listening to 14s amazing songs. im not sure if it was answered somewhere, but i keep wondering when will you listen to the endwalker songs, like "flow" and "close in the distance" and a few other amazing one. if i remember right, you love music with piano, and "close in the distance" is a good music without singing because of it, so im patiently awaiting your reaction.

  11. This track made me feel like this was a place that needed a kind hand, as well as time to heal and repair from the damage caused by the invading and occupying Garleans, who had taken most of the people in that place as conscripts in their wars.
Also, they just released a new raid and the track called "In the Balance" is so, so damn good. Cannot recommend it enough.

  12. This song is so strongly associated in my mind with the ghost children playing hide and seek in the zone. (That's an entire story in itself)
It truly is a bittersweet song

  13. Theres so many songs in ffxiv that it won a world record for most original pieces in a game, which at the time was 384 in 2016 (and theres even more original pieces now).

And out of every ff14 song I've ever heard in all my years playing, I don't think theres a single song that I dislike?? Even the seasonal holiday songs are great, though some are absolute ear-worms that you can't get out of your head.
(Also it does sort of have a country song, but its a track from FF15 that was brought over to 14 for a collaboration event)
