Omg you forgot the obvious dungeon of my choice! Do these guys even play the game?
I agree with all but Ghimlyt. That definitely deserves an epic entry. This might be the first time I've disagreed enough with a point in the list to even comment, lol
I think, but not sure, that the music for Doma castle is from a Koto. It's like this it's like a horizontal guitar thing is the best way I can put it. It's fitting for Doma is meant to be part of the far east, which is where things like the Koto wore made.
Edit:Seeing others bring it up, and listening to some music, it would seen to be more likely a Shamisen
Holy f. I never noticed the third eye on the Inferno.
I like the puzzle boss, it’s challenging at first, then extremely simple once you’ve learned it, and it forces you to learn boss mechanics. Other bosses you can power through with a decent healer and good equipment, but I like that the game made me learn. It really helped me not die to other mechanic heavy bosses later on
For the Gimlet Dark how can you reference DBZ in the fight against the girls but not go the last bit and not reference Jeice & Burter from the Ginu Force?
For the "minus" or "plus" mechanic, it's fairly easy. It's based on magnet polarity, same polarity repel each other, opposite attract each other.
Special detail about the "Kelpie" fight in Drowned City of Skalla : originally, the calls for the draw in or push back were reversed. People thought it was a bug but since Kelpies are known to drown people through trickery, it was intended that the name of the moves are reversed so to confuse players since Kelpie effectively "lied" about what it was about to do. It was later patched to reverse the names sadly. I always thought it was a pretty cool idea to implement some lore through a mechanic like that.
I hate Doma Castle.
Every time I run it I just remember how some characters were given the perfect deaths, only for it to get retconned. And they bring them back just to run my least favorite storyline in the game. Tsukuyomi is why I don't like Stormblood. Lyse is a close second. Rant Incoming.
Tsuku is a boring villian. She's just some loud lady. All she does is scream at people. That can be fun, if the lines are great. Tsuku's lines are not great. They are bland. I've never seen anyone quote her. Compare that to any other villain in this game. They all have something.
Tsuku did not deserve a bossfight. She did not deserve a whole patch cycle dedicated to her lazy backstory. Its that stupid cliche "tragic" backstory. "My childhood was bad so I'm evil, now feel sad for me." No. I've seen that a hundred times. It never works. Its garbage. She's garbage. Throw her in the trash.
Stormblood would have been much better if she died at the end of Doma Castle. Running that dungeon just brings back memories of all the reasons I hated stormblood.
I might be the minority that was just delighted to fight Bardum. We never had a mechanics only boss and I thought it was whimsical and fun ^_^
Welp, Garret mentioned he liked Gundam so I have to upvote!
Missing a few optional dungeons from the list
Bardam's Mettle is a banger for me, Burn and Ghimlyt Dark are easy epics too. Lowballing Stormblood dungeons, for shame! It's funny, I always groan getting Doma Castle as a tank or healer cause the first group of mobs can be real nasty and one of the bosses can ping-pong a healer to death lol. So, while the walls are pretty and music funky, never cared for it much. Looking forward to your plans for next week's vid =D
Stormblood #1 expansion
Sirensong Sea was awesome the first time. Made me think of FF5's Ship Graveyard near the beginning of that game.
The bosses in Castrum Abania all come from FF6.
30:07 This was explained
Shadowbringers and Endwalker only have 2 optional dungeons each, at level cap
The middle boss of Bardam's Mettle can be passed, even if 3 out of 4 party members are afk, so long as just 1 passes each mechanics
Also Stormblood was where the dungeon bosses started to get more complex, they were marketed as challenging new dungeons
Really weird they only ranked the optional dungeons? I thought they only did these for MSQ required dungeons. 🤔🤔
We got Ala Mhigo in a roulette once, one of the dps died to mech causing a chain reaction that ended up with me soloing Zenos as DRK from about 50%, probably one of my favorite memories from this game because when it was over my kid says "That was the most anime fight ever!". He was the healer. Ghimlyt Dark is my favorite StB dungeon, also one of my favorite in the game.
y'all's intros never miss!
"I love the way this dungeon looks, love how it sounds, I never want to run it again!"
YES! THANK YOU! Barnam's mettle in one sentence!
Didn't they forget Shisui of the Violet Tides? I like that dungeon! I farmed so many times for the clothes.
I do think the dungeons Shi-sui of the Violet Tides and The Dusk Vigil probably should have made the list, since they're "optional" but required for flying. Plus, they're also leveling dungeons, whereas all other optional dungeons are post-leveling.
Note that the burn's music is a remix of the praetorium
"exiting personal reflection" killed me 😄
I've ran Drowned city of Skalla a billion times for glamour farm while also grinding my relic weapons. While the mid boss is kind of obnoxious, the first one is fun as a caster because you can cheese mechanics with your anti-push/pull skills, which felt really cool as a BLM, and I absolutely love the last boss because most mechanics are based on boss movement, not obvious danger markers, which makes the fight so much more fun to me, particularly as a healer, as people tend to eat the mechanics and you can land some sick Rescues on people.
Plus, it has one of the roughest wall-to-walls right before the mid boss, which is kinda fun as a healer because you get to use more than just your AOE. Sure, if the tank doesn't know what he's doing and the DPSs are a tad too new, shit can go south QUICK, but finishing that trash group always feels great to me.
08th MS Team mentioned Swell with Pride
Although Mist Dragon does feel a little out of place. As a fan of FFIV and Rydia, I was just overjoyed to see it in XIV. I get really nostalgic for Stormblood. I think people will look back on it kinder than they did at the time. Keep up the great work, love the content you put out 🙂
