Today I delve into the world of Final Fantasy 14 for the first time in 2022. Is this MMO one that will hook me, how does the combat feel, and is it fun in the first couple of hours? We will find out today as we jump into the world of Hydaelyn.

  1. ESO content creator exploring other games… Why am I not suprised?

    All its gonna take is one good game to steal what little thunder ESO has left. The dev team is making decisions nobody wants month after month and too many changes. I went from doing some raids and pvp ( im not great lol ) and now I am back to pretty casual content where I dont need to rebuild my char every 3 months.

  4. As a long time ESO player I've considered looking into other games. FF14 doesn't have much voice acting but the biggest turn off was the forced grouping for the MSQ and the sheer number of skills to be hot-keyed. I sort of expected this from a tab-targeting game but damn … there are a lot of skills here.

    It seemed to me the best way to handle this was to go controller. The controller hotbar seems to place them in a way that's easily accessible. If you have controller skills. I have none so the combo of controller fail … on my part because the game itself is fantastic for controller players … and the sheer number of skills to hot-key turned me off the game. Now, I'm reconsidering playing. I'm the type of player who sticks to a game for years and it seems that FF14 might be perfect for this but unless I can get over those issues, it's a no go for me. Maybe I should give it another chance and get gud?

  5. I tried FF and the combat is horrible compared to eao. Im still at the beginning but it feels so slow and not enough movement. Feels like im standing still pressing a button most of the time

Ff14 is a lot of fun once you hit 60. 50-60 which is the heavensward expansion was well done and the combat became better, but honestly 1-60, the combat is simply painfully slow compared to eso (i just started eso recently and i enjoy the combat a lot). 60 and on, really begins to introduce a lot more OGCDs (off global cooldowns) which are your skills, spells, and abilities that arent tied to your main abilities, etc. Ogcds is what makes the combat fast and "difficult". But again, 60+ introduces these more and you get a better feel of the pacing for the combat, and once you hit 70+, you finally have less standing around and more of going through a non-stop rotation.
    Story of the game gets really really good at stormblood and on as the "main story" begins to share more about the antagonist (personal preference). Heavensward is really good, but for me stormblood was perfect!
    Anyway, hope yall enjoy the game! I know it starts painfully slow 🐌 lol

  11. So happy to see you trying this out! It takes a while to truly get into this game, but the story is truly exceptional once it gets going, and the best part is Creative Business Unit 3 does an excellent job balancing and keeping the end-game raiding content consistent and rewarding in my opinion.
