  1. Ya know, i woke at 6am this morning and saw allllll the media tour drops, and Albert Wesker dropped his class overview video about changes, and while watching it during the Astro part, i went "huh that Mele looks like Val". Hahahaha it truly is a small world after all.

  2. I'm South East Asian and whatever Mangoes you grow in North America ain't it. They are so unsweet and sauceless that they might as well be peaches.
So i'll forgive Garrett's ignorant take but I will take solace in plunge being removed as his punishment.

  3. Mocktail to Cocktail ideas.

Pictomancer-Sake, something with a clean citrus edge. Maybe Wandering Poet. I'd also add a little strawberry cordial and a few dashes of lemon bitters to kick it up since Sake isn't particularly strong.

Viper-Ugh. I'm allergic to cucumber. But I'd go a Blonde Rum. Something like Papa's Pilar blonde would work well. And I think wouldn't kill the basil. 2 dashes of grapefruit bitters should even this one out. I'd maybe garnish this with a little basil as well to keep the cucumber from overpowering and allow the basil to be a little more forward.

Dawntrail-I'd go a little Tequila on this, paired with some of that new Yuzu infused Dry Curaco they just came out with. Tequila and Agave obviously seem to match up and the yuzu works with the lime and the dry curaco brings the sweetness down to a more manageable level.

  4. I think when you look at where the effort for Bozja-style content went, it's not just Island Sanctuary. Remember that in comparison to Shadowbringers, we didn't get a Bozja, but we DID get a deep dungeon, 3 variant dungeons with criterion and criterion savage versions, Hildibrand quests, Allied tribe quest, one more ultimate raid than ShB gave us, and a full pvp rework with a new game mode and maps, all on top of Island Sanctuary. Oh, and they were also revamping old dungeons and trials, and adding duty support to the dungeons.

They were doing a lot of experimental stuff, and a lot of stuff to shore up the core of the game. When you go through the list, it's easy to see how some players would feel there was very little because it wouldn't apply to them. But they were not slacking on getting content out at all.

  6. 2:15:53 YES AST MAINS WE'RE SO BACK. i loved HW Astro and despite changing it to how it is healing-wise, i think i definitely like this now better than when it was a hybrid of either a regen or a shielder. im so glad they brought back cards's identities (somewhat) because that's definitely one of my biggest gripes as an AST main when they removed it. i didn't care so much about removing NOCT/DIURNAL sects. and im glad they've also kept lady/lord of crowns too. AST is gonna be so great <3 it's so great to see Kyle love astro as much as most of us do!

Also on the conversation of macros, there is ONE advantage to macros. Sprint macro is good for you! because it cannot be queued like any ogcd's so it can be annoying if you tried to weave/just press it that's why macroing it makes it so it's trying to cast it multiple times.

just put this on a macro and VOILA:

    /merror off

    /ac Sprint

    /ac Sprint

    /ac Sprint

    /ac Sprint

    /ac Sprint

    /ac Sprint

    /micon Sprint

  7. Happy you got to go to the Media Tour and to hear your accounts of it! The plunge animation animation will be missed (please, Yoshi-P, it's not too late to keep the animation in, it doesn't have to do damage).
As an enjoyer of GG and WeskAlber the story at 33:13 was delightful to hear.

  8. I know macros are a touchy subject but the big problem with using macros in the optimal context in battle is they do not function with the ability queuing that the rest of the game uses, so if you press it a moment early it doesn't happen, where other buttons if you press a moment early the game has a forgiveness window and will accept that input nonetheless. But again that only matters in optimization, and is something you can be aware of and thus play around.

  9. Some Cool Creators I would love to see on the Grinding Gear Podcast, now that you are a lot closer to being Current with content:
-Mr Happy & Slyakathegreyfox (Those two also have a podcast, which could be fun for you two to join)
    – Dodger & Jessy Cox (Geekenders Crossover episode)
    – Woops
    – Pint
    – Zepla

  10. Thank you Garret for saying Viper feels like Dancer. From what I gathered on watching others thoughts it seemed like that but they never made that comparison so it didn't help when they started talking about an Openers and 2min windows.
If you tell me what the new thing feels like and compare it to another cool thing then I'll try it out.

  11. I'm coming off of a fun, but crazy and exhausting work week but that opening bit immediately perked me up a bit. I still remember when you two were like "Oh man, media tour would be awesome!". So happy it happened!

  12. I hear you talkin shit about me 👀

Sorry if I got EXTRA awkward looking after you recognized me. Been in a dream since I got contacted for the Tour, and then suddenly "oh hey, I a fellow person who was invited actually am a fan and recognized your voice" kinda like, mentally ruined me lmao. Being forced to acknowledge it in a face to face context, holy hell is that way harder to reckon with. Was really cool to talk for a bit, blindsiding aside!

  13. Gotta say, with all the people who are making videos about job changes and Yoshi-P interviews, I’m glad to see you guys going over the nitty-gritty of the graphics update effects in the hub city (the fabrics, foods, books, and what NPCs were present). I get more excited by the story than combat, and while Black Mage looks like it’s gonna be fun in the explosive way, the world looks FANTASTIC. I can’t wait to explore it for myself!

  14. 2:18:37 About Astrologian Complexity:

From what I see, there are 2 different kinds of complexity being fought over. One kind is the MECHANICAL complexity (the button-pushing busyness of trying to get your cards out during the 2-minute window). Common examples of this mechanical complexity are GNB when trying to fit mitigation into their burst window, or DRK's opener.

The 2nd kind of complexity is what I call the "meaningful choice" complexity. This is when you have an actual choice of HOW you adjust your skill usage to the specific circumstances of your battle. This is being enhanced through AST's new card system.

AST is without a doubt losing the first kind of complexity and gaining the second. Now, some players REALLY like mechanical complexity, and they're not wrong to do so!

But given a strict choice between the two, I will always advocate meaningful choice over mechanical complexity. Because meaningful choice is something that changes for every fight. It's dynamic! Mechanical complexity can be memorized through repetition then forgotten about completely.

Monk, as a counterexample, is losing BOTH mechanical complexity and meaningful choice with its Dawntrail changes. And that's not a good direction to take job design.

  15. My BIGGEST issue with Yoshi-P's continued response to unlocking glam from classes is he usually references a mage in plate. Meanwhile, I literally have a Black Mage glam that is plate armor and a full helm, and tanks in bikinis are standard issue. They keep making this argument built on a foundation of sand. But I'm glad to hear they are at least thinking more options.

  16. Speaking about the player numbers, they have never talked about how many subscribers they have. They have always just talked about unique accounts. Because active subs is not a good thing for them to talk about, which everyone has seen from why Blizzard stopped doing it. When numbers go down it's bad PR.

  17. So happy you guys got to go on the Media Tour. When I saw everyone posting their videos, my eyes went so wide, and I immediately went to the GG channel. I saw NOTHING! No videos or anything, and I was so sad. Then I saw the livestream notification and I freaked out LOL! Had to watch this video in parts, because of life…but it was 5hous of happiness.

Kyle panning the camera back and forth was killing me, especially with the mango bit XD. Also, that new set was fantastic! Kyle did a great job creating it.

Ahhh! I can't believe that Dawntrail is so close. This month cannot go by fast enough. But, looking at the GG roadmap…I will have LOTS of content to help get me through to the end of June. Then…it is time for a new adventure!

  18. Did ANYONE ask how they plan to address the completely DEAD Party Finder on all but one Data Center in each region? Ever since DC travel was implemented, every dumb ass lemming started going to their region's "raid DC" for all extreme/savage/ultimate. It's all but impossible to get a party on Crystal and Primal and Dynamis for example.
Are all streamers just unaware of this issue since they have an army of viewers ready to keep them from ever having to use PF?
