  1. So it's like removing aim assist in an fps game to make it more fun? I think that was my gripe in shadowlands pvp. Having add-ons to know what cool downs your opponent has is like playing a card game where everyone shows there hand. Yes the gameplay will be different by playing around it but I do prefer not knowing what my opponent has ready for me.

  2. I use only QOL, like delvUI, graphic enhancements, chat bubbles, market search (just the one to check current prices and availability), quest search and stuff like that… I have nothing to help me with fights, UI add-ons are a must for me, the original one is so difficult to see, at least for me…

  3. IMO the reason why add-on (beyond QoL stuffs) is so necessary in WOW because of the reward and character's progression structure, if there're something to gain ppl will find the way to make it as easy as fast as possible even far beyond the constrain of the game AKA combat assist add-on. ff14 is the same if you want Bis gears you had to do the weekly raid, the different is it's not the only way, you can get all the high ilv gears close to the bis while doing none of the savage raids, so the pressure of raiding is close to none existence, majority ppl just doing it for fun hence there're little need for combat add-on and personally i hope they're keeping it that way.

  4. FF is the better game overall.

The only thing WoE has is the legacy up til 2010 and combat click responsiveness. Otherwise it is worse in overall content, story, community, gameplay and support.

Weakauras and DBM kill all immersion.

  5. Think Rogerbrown also made a good point, in ffxiv they seem to start with a savage encounter design and tone down mechanics for normal mode, hence why there's such a diferrence in fights between normal and savage.

Where in WoW atleast for awhile now Heroic and Mythic really aren't that diferrent its more of a numbers game with 1 added mechanic a fight.

  6. WoW community: Lol weeb trash community
WoW streamers: Why are ff14 players always so pushy about playing their game? Now im not gonna try it

Blizzard fucks up more than usual and gets a bit too rapey

WoW players: Why didn't anyone tell me about ff14?

  7. I spent my whole night doing savage blinded with my friends.

Almost every mechanic actually have clues on how to avoid it.

The best feeling is when you figured out how to clear it then your friend all hype up and yell "Damn, that's smart!".

  8. Good take! WoW should really do smth about addons playing the game for you and replacing your raid leaders core job at the same time.
I mean nowadays the game is designed around Weak Auras too but it makes it a lot less fun i bet for WF progression to encounter a new mythic mechanic and then afk for 20 minutes until your WA guy made the loophole for you to the new problem instead of just keep pulling and find a way around it as a team which is obviously 10 times more fun. 😛
But how could they, there are too many bowls of fruit that need to be implemented o.o

  9. Interestingly, I'm a mythic plus tank, and am playing ffxiv mainly now, and really really miss the add-ons, and the difficult dungeon content. I get that learning mechanics is cool and refreshing, but there is a real satisfaction that comes from being able to pull around your dps's big cooldowns and saving your own defensives if your healer still has a big one for you etc. I definitely miss that about wow, but mostly I miss the challenging 5 man content, I loved the timed racing format. Still mainly playing ffxiv, but tanking feels a lot less fun for me.

  10. To all the people that cried "weeb game" over the years, I have a genuine question. Did you not have a parent slap you upside the head for turning your nose up at something on your dinner plate and say "Don't knock it until you've tried it"?

Just because something doesn't i initially appear appetizing, that doesn't mean it's not absolutely top shelf.

  11. One of the weirdest thing i've ever heard from Ion is when he said he tuned the raid around people having addon, honestly if addon for a certain mechanic is mandatory, then they should've built it ingame. It's pretty irresponsible to make an encounter and then throw the solution to a 3rd party source.

  12. Tbh the amount of WoW streamers that act like they've found a hidden gem is hilarious. FF14 was an already insanely popular game before, with millions of people trying to tell everyone how good it is. XP Not our fault the slow pokes didn't listen until some online personalities told them they could try it lmao.

  13. In retrospect and having given it some thought while getting ready for the office, Scribe if that’s what his name is whom you were mentioning is correct. But I also think he’s right for a different reason and one I have constantly pondered for the last 10 months since I also left WoW and I have seen no one in the gaming community address it I’m aware of. And that is WHY did it take a “calamity” in WoW with Blizzard/Activision and players quitting the game, big streamers quitting the game, Bellular and Matt subtlety talking about FF14 right up before that point and before talking about it much after Blizzard Calamity as players quit WoW to later pick up FF14. WHY did it take all that carnage before regular players, streamers could turn a cheek and say, 🤔 hmm ok, maybe I should try that game. I quit WoW a full 6-7 months before Blizzard debacle and picked up FF14 in quitting and it was still 2020. But vast majority of players only choose quit WoW in summer 2021. So do WoW players have heard mentality? Why couldn’t many the players have quit before? Why couldn’t many more the players have opted to try FF14 before. It’s the same game that existed fully one year ago, 6 months ago. Why. That is a question no one have pondered to commented on or articulate a point. Maybe you my friend can address that. Because I know, you can do a good job at that commentary.

I remember a few weeks into playing FF14 in early January 2020 as a regular viewer I was also just watching WoW videos much less. I even remember commenting on a few videos just saying hey man sorry for not watching WoW content as much as I’m playing other MMOs as I no longer played WoW. I had already quit, but I still supported the channel here and didn’t commented as much as I did no longer play the game as you were also doing raid content. I was playing FF14 having moved on. I was enjoying the game. But in my mind I also wondered hey this game is pretty good, I don’t understand why more WoW players aren’t trying it. It wasn’t until months later that would happen. So my question stands as WHY it took a calamity for WoW players to stand up and be open minded to other MMOs and that include a mass exodus to FF14. WHY? We’re they all drinking special Kool Aid in jest? Could be best answered in a video and just have it be content.

  14. As already covered, it really is important that FFXIV designs fights that can be solved by console players when tackling the hardest fights. Players like myself have been clearing nearly everything on PS3, PS4, and now PS5 in part thanks to how SE approaches fight design and feedback loops

  15. I think it's kind of like what some other WoW refugees said when they made the jump. It's because they've been so conditioned to what ActiBlizz has been giving out that trying alternatives didn't seem to be a choice for some odd reason.

  16. Im so glad you brought up the whole reason why WoW players are now just discovering FF actually being a fun game. And it is because for years, like you mentioned, WoW players have seen FF negatively. They bashed it for so long, being toxic about while at the same time, not giving any effort to try it until recently. Even when Asmon was making the switch, he had to take the time to back peddle his own opinions about the game, opinions that nurtured his own community to be negative about it. Im glad that the perception is changing, but i wonder if this opportunity of just trying FF would be possible if Blizzard hasnt been on such a downward spiral that its been experiencing recently.

also what i see now is a sort of gaslighting from other WoW players. I was watching a member of Max's group as they were just chatting in twitch wth their community, and at some point it almost felt like table turning, cause they would say stuff like, "yeah, since we crossed over, a portion of the FF community has been negative and toxic…" and wouldnt even consider the fact that the WoW community for years has been painting the FF community negatively for years as being weebs playing a bad game. Not even considering that there might be reasons as to why some FF community members may be apprehensive. Also would just gloss over the whole quinn69 issue as just an isolated incident separate from the greater WoW community.

  17. I would prefer a bit cleaner ui raiding-wise with the ability to make raidframes more approachable in the style of wow/grid/vuhdo (+ like editing mana bars and their locations etc), and with 8 people tracking cd's easily from base UI would be really cool. But tbh that's all I'm primarily missing (mouseovers are a bit clunky in FF sometimes for healing – but due to the pacing it is not a huge problem). Yes puzzle solving is sometimes harder in FF, but it is also super interesting because of that and it really feels great when you figure out things with your team and get further in the fight. So while I do benefit and like many parts of wow with addons, I completely get where Scripe's comment is coming from. 🙂

FF also needs addons less because savage raid size is smaller, and there is no "competitive" dungeon content so being able to be super efficient is much less crucial in everywhere else except extreme trials and savage raids. 🙂 That's also something I love in FF, but I do like m+ and continuous raiding in wow and FF works a bit differently in that regard.

I think crafting being very complex and thus needing/benefiting from complicated macro's is the only real ui/addon pain point in FF for me, but that is also due to design and not because of no addons, and at least it sure is engaging and complex for an activity on it's own. 😀

  18. As someone who’s never PvPed in WoW or 14 add ons sound like blatant cheating. I mean we have these “add ons” in other PvP games and it’s just as much BS there.

BRB guys installing my “add ons” for street fighter and overwatch. lol
