  4. Oof. Thancred is very much the guy to try to bond with Magnus in his grief. I've been down on him the last few comments, but it's good he did some processing of the past today. I do get why he's being the way he's been.

    Still don't see what Minfilia 2.0 was supposed to get from a wordless headpat.

  5. And so the two Apostles True, not deterred by the denial of the Third, enlisted the Ageless Sorcerer to facilitate the incarnation of the Most Holy and Divine Trolley. The Sorcerer sought the Snackbringer to aquire the material required to fuel the rite. And the Blessed Trolley, one true god, guided the Snackbringer along Its Golden Rails towards his quest's goal. From the blessed claw of Saint Agna he grasped the stone of divinity.

  6. Playfriends, we've got a trolley to mend. But first, I think we need to mend an engineer. This is your spoiler free lore comment.

    3:10 – Debitage is a term originating from French and I think Dan is pronouncing it correctly! The term refers to waste flakes of stone from the production of stone tools by knapping stone. As a result, it's usually associated with archeological finds for prehistorical humanity.

    12:28 – Home is where the heart is. But what do you do when your heart is lost? When you've buried all you carried about?

    15:05 – Head pat technology is rare in this game. I'm sure Dan can talk about the animations and how contact between characters needs to feel natural, but it's something the animation team employs their head pats sparingly. Not quite as sparingly as hugs but very close.

    21:10 – A single Voeburt gold piece will keep Guthjon fed with mushloaf for… a while! And Durmin knows from experience!

    22:10 – Fray/Esteem does all of Durmin's brooding for him. As for the practical knowledge, might I recommend the Gunbreaker job? It gets a gunsword! I'm totally not biased about this in any way.

    28:45 – "What knockers!" "Oh, thank you doktor!" – Young Frankenstein. As an aside, the creatures called knockers/rockworms here on the First are called coblyn in Eorzea.

    30:25 – This is true of the MSQ, but there are some side quests that are more like this quest in obtaining items. Still, Dan's right, it's fairly rare.

    32:15 – Yup, Miner is the only playable job that Minfilia had. To the point that it's her listed Job in the Final Fantasy wiki.

    14:48 Tiny animation detail that screams at me: Thancred's pace changed. He was almost marching away from Magnus, but here his cadence is much slower. Love tiny details like that.

    24:13 I just realised that Thancred's inability to cast magic makes him the most ninja character in the main cast. Possibly even more than Yugiri.
    30:39 It's not intersting, but very palatable (for me, anyway) IF it's woven into a narrative that's half decent. Like, if it's thugs in a warehouse that has some gubbin I need to hand back to the questgiver. I'll not complain until I need to take out 50 of em. Or if it's a enemy I'll have to carve swathes through anyway.

    – of course Urianger would know how to service an outdated robot from a different planet
    – yeah, I'm not surprised the tragic backstory would involve a mining accident, poor guy
    – I don't wanna be mean, but Thancred you are squandering this second chance pretty hard by not actually opening up to Minifilla, JUST TELL HER!
    – the mining in that region is over, but hopefully once the Night returns it becomes an Archeological site
