  1. Most people would agree with your list I'm sure, aside perhaps the order, but that's just personal taste. (Potential spoilers below)

For me, Ardbert was probably the best. I was always looking forward to heading back to the inn to wind down and just have a conversation that didn't alter the fate of the game, but it still felt meaningful and somewhat relaxing. Like both your character and him genuinely bonded together.

Emet-Selch is tied with Ardbert. He's the kind of character that could have become a good friend if you had met him under different circumstances. Probably because he was very close to Azem. He's not "evil" for evil's sake, he genuinely wants to save his people, just like you want to save yours. It's just unfortunate that there is no middle ground.

  2. You know the characters were so good when Eyes get watery by just reminiscing. One character havent seen mentioned yet was Thancred. His solo duty and cutscene following it was so powerful! Even changed my main class to Gunbreaker. I felt the only reason it didnt strike peoples hearts has much as other scenes was because many misinterpreted it as a fakeout death scene. However it was suppose to be the death of his ideals. It wasnt a "oh he died and came back a moments later like other times theyve done that" which seemed to be the more common interpretation. Def underrated i felt, not the best but def up there in my top 5

  3. I've played a LOT of "masterpiece" level of stories with masterpiece characters, from the entire trails series, umineko, sci adv and many more and emet selch easily stands out as one of the best villains I've seen in a story and that says a lot.

He was perfectly crafted, didn't overstay his welcome, was entertaining to watch and left a lasting impact on the story as a whole, couldn't ask for anything more.

  4. Another young guy being edgy, accusing the good of having holes in their kindness and loving baddies… And you all wonder how we have a world full of villainous leaders and bigoted media…

  5. feo ul killed me, but no, understand the lore behind the ascians was the best part of the expansion by a fair amount, suddently the entire game is not so black and white, they think the people of hydaelyn are animals because by ascian standards, they are. their souls are only a tiny fraction of what an ascian has, their life fleeting, their motivations petty and shallow, normal people are dumb and short lived to an ascian, we are to them what a rat is to us and the comparisons are measurable. they were orders of magnitude deeper and more powerful than a normal person could ever hope to be, can we blame ascians for trying to bring their world back? their people back? their families back? even if it meant destroying a world of rats? would we do any different in their position?

  6. I would give an Honorable Mention to Dulia-Chai. What had the potential to be solely a comic relief character becomes the emotional center of the Kholusia storyline. She's just such a good-hearted character who exhibits a lot of development and proves to be much stronger than realized, with unshakable faith in the people she loves.

  7. Tesleen – her ending scene was so stupid. She attacks a light monster that is after a kid, immediately she drops her guard turning her back to the monster to check an unresponsive husk of a child like they could respond when they clearly can't and of course cuz of guard drop she gets stabbed by the back by said monster. If I was her I'd grab the kid and run like hell. Meanwhile your main character and Alsalie see this, run to them but stop running half way for some reason to just watch their friend get attacked get turned into a light monster smh. Only after Tesleen turns does Asalie and your character finally intervene.
If Tesleen didn't drop her guard and ran away with the kid & warrior of darkness with asalie continued to run to them then Tesleen would have had a better chance to live. But no they were all stupid for the plot smh. Tesleen is mere fodder for seeing how corrupted light monsters infect others giving birth to their own kind. But they could have done what lead up to this point much better instead.

  8. I'm just so impressed they used characters seen years ago (ardbert in post hw and graha tia in literal a realm reborn) to play central parts of this expansion is just. Wonderful work. Ishikawa is a blessing, really excited for endwalkers

  9. I tear up when you ask him about Seto after Il'Mehg questline, then during 5.3 ending q-q. Also, have you done all the 4 role quests chains to unlock the secret one? it also add more t the lore about Ardbert and cia.
