  1. It's the fact that this reddit user just got access to the full game with the release for Xbox (if he's making an FC he can't be on the trial still). Now he's on a 61 day ban. He's losing out on the free 30 days of sub time from buying the game, and if he already bought sub time he's missing out on that as well. This really needs to be brought to Square's attention. Xbox needs to add some kind of whitelist for in-game terms.

  2. Is this intended? It seems to me more of a problem with their NLP algorithm for word recognition. If it were me I'd create a FFXIV word library to merge with Treebank and make a PoS tagging algorithm to help the censoring. Cuz like, I kinda get it, Thanalan is not a real word so the algorithm thinks it's a convoluted way of hiding "anal", instead of realising it's a noun itself. The solution I can think of is rather complicated (a lot of work rather than difficult) but they could basically add words like "raids" and "thanalan" and their respective tags into the treebank and improve the filtering.

  3. I assume Microsoft is so militant about censoring chat because the reputation of Xbox's online community was so badly damaging their brand. I dunno what it's actually like, but as an outsider I still can't help but associate it with dude bros calling you the n-word or kids screaming about screwing your mom. These measures are way beyond unreasonable, though. Communicating with others is almost impossible. If text chat is like this in other Xbox titles, I dunno why anyone would bother. I would just either not play online games, or sell my Xbox or something.
