Interesting to note that, while this is a shard that may have been rejoined, or destroyed by lightning, that the outside is nothing but clouds and sunshine, meaning that perhaps rejoined shards remain, unhindered, but lifeless
I hope they never let you restore this place and they keep the gold version in ng+. I feel like the loss is the point. Amazingly themed area, definitely one of the most powerful in the game. Up there with amarot for me
I legit salute the bravery of the team to have the balls to never turn back the original theme or look of the zone ever again. Really hits the message of the MSQ in so so much more.
It’s kinda crazy cause it can just straight up be sunny in this area. Like this isn’t just some simulation, this is real. All of it was *real*. It wasn’t like Ultima Thule, which was basically dynamis illusions. The people, the scenery… now all but a fleeting memory.
I kept thinking "They're gonna fix it by the end, right? At least make it less completely dead?" But that relief never comes. You basically killed this place, and even if it was to save the star and the reflections, it doesn't make what you did less painful.
I can't wait until the devs come up with some BS reason to restore this zone and bring back all the endless because they found some technology that permits a loophole in the aetherial flow that can sustain them for a natural lifespan going forward or some other such nonsense.😅
This also plays during the last walk to the Meso Terminal, before Final Battle. Man, the final zone hit hard. It's no ShB & EW, but DT is already up there with HW up until 3.3 for me. If the patches deliver…
Christ, this is…hard to look at. Like yeah, its just a video game but its also a work of art and this art specifically tells a depressing story.
It now looks like the ruins of a city that was bombed during wartime, like Dresdan. A part of me wants this city to be brought back to life but the other part of me acknowledges that doing so would ultimately ruin the message of the zone. Probably best to let it finally rest, especially since the message hit hard for me with a relative I lost a year ago
I did cry my way through completing this last part – was very hard to progress through it. Taking the beauty of the city away, seeing your fellow companions saying good bye to those dearest to them. Soken captured the essence of what needs to be done with his music beautifully (once again)
I got chills when I noticed the music because it made me think of “Everywhere at the End of Time”. The zone’s music is now faded and quiet, as if you’re slowly forgetting it. Never before have I been playing FFXIV and hit a point where I saw a message that made me want to not progress, well done FFXIV team.
Something tragic has happened. This zone and theme is so fucked up. It really is a wonderful sweet zone, yet at the same time incredibly tragic. This was really hard to play through, I think the only other thing that comes close is Ultima Thule or Elpis and even then.. it was such a gutpunch. My stomach felt uneasiness through the entirety of it and it still kinda does. Makes you really question yourself and your motives, really hits home that not everything is as black or white. Something tragic has happened and it's not pretty.
I think this and Heritage Found are my favourite zones. Alexandria was absolutely phenomenal.
This zone hit me on so many emotional levels. Watching it slowly get turned off like you're the guy turning the lights off for the last time in a place where people used to laugh and have a good time.
It occurs to me that the only way short of running an alt to see this zone in its original state is through ng+, which is just another layer of the concept of rememberance
This has some "Everywhere At The End Of Time" feelings and how both are about memories dissapear even tho one is about a mental disease and this one about erasing the memories of the endless
when the skybox changed, it felt like daylight shining into an empty hospital room the morning after its occupant passed. coming back to this place with the burden of memory feels as terrible as it should.
i think this is also a reminder to us players, to stop comparing this expansion to what happend before. DT was not suposed to be bigger and greater then EW, a story that was 10 years in the making. ARR was also not a Storytelling Masterpiece but look where it leaded us too. Every Story has to start somewhere.
We are now on a new journey, with new adventures, new friends, new enemy's and possibility's.
"let it go" don't be sad its over, be glad it happened.

This whole dungeon was like pulling the plug on a dying loved one…
In EW, we brought the music back, but in DT we took it away.
Everywhere at the end of time – ff14 edition
Why are we almost always far too late save a world but our own…? Why are we always the undertaker?
this has nothing to do with the theme itself, but good on you for the au ra in this vid having the best hairstyle in the game for them
Edit: changed pic to vid because well, that's what it is.

Its really chilling coming here after MSQ. It just remains very eerily hollow feeling. Devoid of all life and color and even music
This must have been what it was like for meteion as she destroyed the worlds she visited….. the sadness and depression at the end…
Endsinger did nothing wrong
“My memory isn’t what it use to be…”

Remember… that we once lived."

Its empty, grey and lifeless
then the world boss pops.
