  1. RDM feels weird to me, I agree with smooth being the perfect adjective to describe it but I don't know, it feels extremely simple still but way less mobile than BLM which was kinda still a thing in ShB but feels noticeable now, at least for me. I don't know, I don't dislike it at all, it just feels kinda bland compared to all the other jobs I've leveled, even DNC feels more complex I guess? I don't know if that's the right word, it just feels very samey after a while for me. But being able to rez and save the party always feels amazing.

  2. My problem with RDM is not mechanic but thematic; something about my character standing out of range and waving his sword at the enemy really irks me. I should always be swinging that thing.

  3. RDM was and is my caster of choice. Everything feels smoother now, especially AoE. On controller it is even usable, despite the amount of busy work, now that multiple skills can trigger your finishers.

  4. Was a melee player pretty much all of Shadowbringers but was able to convince my group to let me play red mage for this upcoming tier. Absolutely loved how smooth the class has felt so far and cannot wait to experience savage fights with it!

  5. loving red mage… outside of the opener. During those first 30s i cry in 200 ping. Not a fan of having to weave on melee combo lol. But oh well, every other moment is smooth as butter. Thank the 12 manafication doesn't reset the ogcds anymore, at the very least. And we can play with black mages now. Hurray.

  6. Playing red mage is the easiest way to feel like you’re useful as a DPS in ffxiv.

The reason I mainly play tank and healer is because DPS gameplay in this game feels pretty boring since you’re really only focussed on damage, largely because that’s all you can do. Even party buffs are just damage increases. That’s why rotations include so many buttons compared to most other mmos, the dev realized that DPS don’t have much to do so they had to make doing optimal damage more involved to make up for it.

That’s not the case with red mage. You feel like the Swiss Army knife of the team and you get numerous chances to shine when playing it. That’s refreshing.

  7. Red mage has been my one and only main ever since stormblood and I have loved it’s progression to how it feels in endwalker. It’s insanely smooth and I think a lot of people aren’t give its mana change enough credit, it changes the job a lot. Only issue I have and always have with red mage is its mp issue. If you rez one or two people your mp is completely shot and itll take multiple lucid dreaming to get back to a comfortable level. Wish they had other ways to regain mp that isn’t just lucid dreaming

  8. RDM surprisingly had become my new main. It feels so smooth and is really fun to play. I love the new animations and spells, and I love that they further enhanced the support side and the melee side, making RDM really feel like a jack of all trades.

The only thing I’d want is some ice and water damage spells (and maybe an AOE heal like Curing Waltz) and it would pretty much be perfect.

  9. the gauge letting you pool more also really, really plays into how everything is on a 2m timer now for raid buffs, you can much more consistently double melee during everyone's buffs, which honestly makes rdm dps really strong alongside it's support stuff.
