  1. This is why I love the FFXIV community. When I was a sprout I had a handful of rude people but it was heavily outweighed by the amount of excellent players who actually became a mentor to me and made me so much better. And this is how I feel

  2. To bad you can get pretty far into the game and still have the sprout tag. I. Sorry but if we are in a lvl 90 dungeon and the sprout is playing like its their first time in sashtasha its unacceptable

  3. I have to say, first timers are very important to me. You get extra points for the Tales book, and they make the roulettes so much more entertaining, if there's not a wipe vs Pleggy's ancient flair, is it really even Labarynth of the ancients run? X3

  4. Sometimes I see sprouts doing better than mentors, it's juste a title, you can be a sprout and smash everything, I prefer having sprouts than mentors in my party, mentors have no patience whatsoever and just aggro whenever they want to

  5. 😢i got yelled at once at rhe crystal towers bc i hadnt learned the off tank and main tank mechanic. I was told "allways agro to protect your friends bc theyre squishy and your a big boy." I didnt know about main and off tanks…. so i died twice…the other tank called me so many mean names and the healers chimed in and it made me so anxious that even now im at shadow walker i FREAK out any time we have to que bc im so scared im going to mess up. 😢 yall im really trying and imbbetter but some of those few literally TRAUMATIZED me. 😢 🤧 Im just a lil guy who wants the story and to decorate my house go easy on me. 6. Ngl from my experiences most sprouts are better players than mentors ._. Guess it’s just been my bad luck in roulettes though. I always find myself rezzing mentors in every alliance raid

  7. I was doing some roulettes with one of my FC friends which is a mentor. the tank was a sprout paladin and he clearly had no idea what he was doing. he forgot about his stance, never used AoEs and only used his 1 2 3 combos, had trouble mitigating since he just spammed all of it on trash mobs and/or as soon as they were avaliable.

The mentor was absolutely RAILING this sprout, writing stuff like "DUDE DID YOU BUY YOUR CHARACTER??" and just saying "fuck it" and catching all the aggro himself. Meanwhile me and the healer decided to help the sprout out, telling him about the mechanics, his skills and all of that stuff. The mentor's excuse was that "He is on a level 50 dungeon. he HAS to know how to play by this point".

It's been three months now and i still mock this dude whenever he comes online by writing in all caps in the FC chat. "DID YOU BUY YOUR CHARACTER YET???"

  8. Honestly this is funny because it’s usually another mentor that was toxic to begin with. Followed by the two mentor’s argument quickly devolving into “I been playing since <insert year> “get good”. Thats why so many of us don’t wear the crown, leave the chat and never look back. I always felt like you don’t need to be helpful or kind to be a mentor, just farm rep with a tank/healer and you get the Burger King crown (not counting the crafting). Wish it was like the vid but it’s not, it’s a mentor that gets kicked 9 times outta 10. For me toxic mentors turned me off to the whole concept. A lot of ppl use the rep reward system just to judge hot glams on cat/bunny/lizard girls now. That has to be making the problem worse. LOL. I’m sure it’s just me getting too old and salty. Might be time to just hang it up. LoL. 😂

  9. Be a sprout bard, run temple of qarn the first time, wipe the party twice trying to cleanse the healer and myself of the death status instead of running to the block. Love how the community is pretty cool with learning.

I really get like that over sprouts and ppl new to a raid
Not sorry that they chose to just enjoy the game instead of studying a guide every dam time

  12. What bugs me is repeat offenders you get 3 the 4th time I'm going to go over the mechanics again and include colorful language raids excluded cause you can know what to do and still get F'd up

  13. I was tanking a dungeon today and a returnee healer died against every boss, forcing me to do each encounter solo as a Warrior (except the second run of the final boss where I kept a dps alive with Nascent Flash).
And while you'd say "just wipe and then have them help you in the second run", I did this and they died anyways, and one of the dps said theyd leave if we wiped too much, which I wanted to avoid.
They also died to the same mechanics twice in a row against each of the bosses, even when I messaged in chat what to do.
They then had the audacity to say from the peanut gallery as the dps and I were beating the last boss without their help that "it's just a game" after wasting at least 20 minutes of my time. I didn't respond, but I sure as hell didn't commend the healer, that went to the dps that didn't leave after the healer died 6 times in a leveling dungeon against bosses with relatively simple mechanics.

  14. I dont know if that is a mentor thing anymore. We also had a mentor telling a sprout off, and we called his bs about being a mentor, and they are part of the reason why ppl lose respect for the mentor tag.

  15. I myself at the moment am a sprout and playing with a dear friend, he really likes to enjoy fights and take things in while i learn and listen to the people who know what to do, had someone really going off on him in ultima hard, telling him to listen to me and not them before a mentor that wasn't even ours went off on him in style, the ff14 community is amazing and unlike anything i have aeen, its an amazing place

  16. Always be nice to the babies !! My first time running everyone was so god damn sweet to me I almost cried. I had come from games that were loaded with toxicity, so to be treated with such kindness and patience I wasn't expecting every time instead of just a lucky few times like I was honestly expecting was really nice.

  17. I've only had like 2 or 3 wipes throughout my MSQ run. This time, i was doing an alliance raid. Three or four people were ignoring boss mechanics, and the boss was at like 5% health. Because of these people ignoring the mechanics we wiped. They wanted to be greedy and try to beat the boss before his mechanic hit. Well, they didnt succeed and we all wiped

  18. I remember 1 game I was doing the Level Duty as DPS and we had this one dungeon, I forget the name but it has the all the glowing yellow and poison effects. It was just business as usual until the first boss, we get the poison debuff we need flowers to cure. The Healer was a Sprout and didn't know I guess so we wiped.

I take a moment to remind the group that to cure the poison, you need to interact with the flowers. Everyone has to do it. Everyone nodded "Right." Well…we wipe again, 2 people didn't pick a flower. So I tell them this is not optional. "Okay." …Healer didn't do it so he died, then we died. The Tank demands the group stays together so the healer can heal, that wasn't the problem. How can him not healing us be the problem if he died first!? So we go again, we wipe. Healer says Tank isn't tanking, but that's not the problem! So the group disbanded, it was a total failure…Some people are just stupid.

  19. Just started to give ff14 a try and just finished Stormblood. Still kind of a weird feeling when you fuck a mechanic up and people will take 4 minutes out of their time to explain a quick mechanic or two and not blow up at you. Weird but in a nice way.

  20. Bruh, I love sprouts in roulettes. I go into a Satasha, Aurum Vale, Totorak, etc, and see three sprours? It's a good day. Have fun, kids. Grandma WHM is here to let you go crazy. Even later, dungeons are great with them, and I loved teaching them the Tower of Babel and Zot.
