*Just Quit WOW and FFXIV, come to FFXI Already! Teach them a lesson!
Welt its June 15 and still no sign of 9.1… I currently lvled a character in FF to 80 during patch 8.2 back in bfa. I left to play wow for 8.3 and into shadowlands…biggest mistake I made and now back on FF.
Just made the switch this week, im not fully convinced yet. WoW gameplay is super smooth and its a hard bar to complete with, but im enjoying FF14 right now so far.
Exactly what I did… Shadowlands dried up for me, so I tried something different with FF14 and I'm enjoying it.
Started playing FF14 two days ago, came over from WoW where I've been playing on and off since vanilla.
Enjoying my Lancer so far and having a great time overall =)
As somebody who plays both games and at a high level, I have never understood the xenophobia against wow players. Wow's high end content is objectively harder than XIV's (no implied judgement on this comment, btw). Any mythic raider from wow is going to be a competent member of a XIV group.
I gave up when it went from gaming to moving where you live just ranting
FfXIV just ain't for me my fam been trying to convert me and it just don't feel right, to each their own I'm gonna continue to enjoy classic tho.
I just came from WoW as well. I thought that I was just not into mmorpgs anymore but it has been a blast. Been playing only 3 days now, the random groups have been helpful, and people have been very nice. Great game, great people to play with I am happy I made the switch.
It’s really beyond me why people still funnel money into WoW. The next expansion will save it! The next patch! It’s insanity, the fact that their most popular content is a rereleased expansion speaks volumes. Blizzard big poopoo.
I love how these guys are literally comparing the game that made final fantasy online a thing the game has flaws but let’s be honest the movement of the game is straight slow and Unresponsive
One point I'd make about the amount of content in both games is: Is that content meaningful? Is it compelling, or is it just going through the motions. WoW has been "going through the motions" since at least Warlords; just Alliance and Horde teaming up to fight the Big Bad… and then fall apart by the next expansion because reasons aka we need to keep PvP alive. FFXIV has a story ultimately centered on your character and their actions. The story and content flows in a way that makes sense (and yes, it turns out that the Nier: Automata raid does make sense). The world and story advance in FFXIV, while WoW treads water; NPCs might die or get corrupted or whatever, but the world itself stays pretty static.
In FFXIV, you don't just feel like you made a difference, you really did make a difference and you can see it! Take the refugee camp outside of Uldah, for example. You'll see it a lot when leveling a class from that city. Talk to the NPCs there, and in the alleyway off the Sapphire Road; even the Little Ala Mhigo area. Come back after finishing Stormblood, and they've changed both visually and in what they say. It's the same for Ishgard and Doma and really any location that you directly help. Where is that in WoW?
About to come back to FFXIV today, but there is a few things that I dont see mention enough, I'd like to say.
Love lots of FFXIV aspects, the graphics, the lore the access of content, the community, love the jobs and all different features. But there is one con about the endgame like you got into dungeons and raid, and the dungeons are nice but not deep enough, it feels like the instance could be more epic, and would like to have more dungeons to do.
Same thing for the raid, i like the idea that the raid is easily accessible like you just go in and do the boss but at the same time it would be much more epic to have a real raid, with trash epic places, platforms and such, maybe not as big as in Wow but more than the room with just the boss like in Coil of bahamut. With that FFXIV would be perfect to me.
For Wow i like the lore the pvp is great but balance not as much and kinda too elitist, raids are epic but I just dont enjoy them as much maybe because the game tends to slowly die because of lack of content and the issues pointed out are not adressed. I can understand big wow players that like M+, raids and PvP wont have much to do come a time for them to do unless they really buy in FFXIV and love the variety of content FF has to offer.
The reason why wow is negative is that not many people help other players. They ignore them. They should add like similar sprout gives extra perks, especially they gotta work on content more. I’m on a hiatus break from wow playing ff14.
Moved this weekend ended long time wow subscription as well. Looking forward in FF…
absolutely!
make the switch!
just make sure it’s for the right reason…
Quit WoW just this month after playing since early Vanilla. I regret nothing.
Where should a fellow dallas nite settle as a wow refugee what server?
I roughly left wow about a month and a half ago, and I have to say it feels damn great indeed. FFXIV feels sooooo damn amazing and I am having a great time too. I mean a really good time. To leave wow and start to play FF felt like a huge breath of fresh air. I do not regret my decision at all. Too hell with Blizzard and their shi**y ways of treating players.
Warcraft is a game that's always released broken, un-balanced with minimal content, the expansions over then next two years are just to constantly try and fix mistakes, possibly create new metas through borrowed powers since they can't balance the classes or specs and include new content which is basically just new grinds to keep ilevel up in order to do the new raid.
If the people who have a problem with wow in it's current state don't un-subscribe where is Blizzards incentive to change the recipe?
Blizzard recent scandal really made what you said feels like gold. It is good that you left WoW before all these scandal was relieved.
I left WoW in Cata. My endgame was terrain escaping.
It is kind of funny hearing people in FF14 freak out that WoW players are going to change the game and make it toxic. And then funnier when people say it won't happen. It's unavoidable, the game will change because FF devs listen to the players, WoW refugees will advocate for the same things that ruined WoW and when they get to a high level will exclude people the same way they did in WoW. Hopefully FF GMs can keep the toxicity in check, but ultimately FF will become what the refugees sought to flee, a game for them.
