MMO content will never be big or sustainable as long as we are basing ourselves around a timed lockout system. This gate limits the amount of content available and absolutely destroys its sustainability for both content creators and the general audience. It ends up creating a schedule rather than allowing you to create your own pacing. It is even worse in FF14 as you are actively punished for rerunning Savage content you already cleared that week. Only by removing time gates and rewarding players for their general play will you have players who want to stick around because it becomes a pick up and play type of game. But unfortunately, this will definitely create burn out in the content creators.
The biggest issue with communities are of course its gatekeeping. Your opinion in FF14 is often invalidated if you haven't done 100% of the content. Haven't cleared Ultimate? Your opinion is invalid. Don't have all the Triple Triad cards? Your opinion is invalid. Don't PvP? Your opinion is invalid. Didn't finish Eureka? Your opinion is invalid. The truth of the matter is that if you've stuck with the game for 20 hrs and honestly tried, your opinion should be valid regardless of the patch. It doesn't matter if ARR is a slog and HW gets better. If you can't hook the player after 20 hrs of gameplay, you have a serious problem.
Thanks for the raw footage. You’re a valuable part of the community and your input is appreciated.
Great Video Chris!
I just loved this! Great video I really enjoyed listening to your and Josh's perspective. Thank you for your content!
Josh video. What a huge undertaking he did for this. https://youtu.be/u2uFaKMl5Zc
Streaming during patching reminded me of listening to Test Match Special during days the Test Match was rained off. Shame they now don't broadcast when that is the case.
This is so cool! Thank you for sharing the full interview. ❤️ First important thing I learned, avoid Reddit. 😂
Loved the unedited version of your answers, it was really interesting!
