  1. I’m not a SCH main but I’m interested in regards to this discussion because I am interested in doing healers as a second main job. Also, I was expecting Square to up SCH’s ante for barriers and stuff. I know SCH has great utility but in the job action trailer, it was a little bit underwhelming really. I mean, I know “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it” philosophy, but I just wish they did something more for SCH rather just letting Sage be put on the spotlight. 😁

  2. Yeah, there's a huge difference between scholar and sage: scholar is raid wide DPS, sage is personal dps bump. Scholar makes everyone else look good. 😀

Also, I already subbed to Cole. Seems like a wholesome dude.

  3. I love Scholar as my main healer a lot. and i was feeling disappointed with what was shown off for it in the live letter, but i'd have to say my only big problem with the class right now is that if you do end up going down in a fight its hard to get back up to speed once you're rezzed cause you have to get the fairy back out to really start healing again and it could cause things to snowball and get worse. really wish the fairy would just be up as long as you were on the class and didn't have to re-summon it.

  4. SCH has always been my favourite healer, but if one healer is dead/afk, scholar is the healer that has more problems keeping everyone alive when it's alone, I hope it will be more balanced in the new expansion, and that they bring back the Aetherflow cooldown reduction, so we have 3 charges each 45s.

  5. I main SCH for my healer. I am still excited to play the job in EW, I haven't heard/scene the dead meme but I did see a lot of reaction videos and everyone just being ??? and fairly confused, but I know we'll learn more as we get closer and closer to 6.0 and I am SO looking foward to the media tour and to what you come back with.

  6. My disappointment with SCH was more of a selfish one. I thought maybe Endwalker would make me like the job, but no, and that's ok. SCH is just not for me, I have to just be at peace with that (even though I love the theme of SCH). But SGE looks like it could be for me (I hope), it's like WHM but with shields 😀 And with that said, I do like all the current SCH memes though xD and let us not forget about AST! AST looked so pretty with the new Starshower ability!

  7. I don't think scholar is dead in the water. Personally I think it just wasn't ready for the live letter and they might be overhauling it to make it more distinctly different to summoner. Least that's the theory

  8. I disagree on the melee uptime buff interpretation of the the SCH movespeed buff. Pretty much everyone has a gap closer. Everyone has Sprint. The cases where both of those options will be on cooldown and movespeed is still needed are likely to be very niche. Worse still, people are going to use gap closers and Sprint out of habit (perhaps from before EW, or maybe after spending weeks practicing with a Sage in the party) and override the SCH buff, making that part of the skill wasted. That disagreement aside, my biggest issue with SCH is that it doesn't feel like it's theme is fully realized. Aetherflow and the Fairy Gauge are underutilized or uninteresting to interact with. The Fairies themselves have become more devoid of personality to the point that if they didn't exist and SCH just had a trait that automatically threw out free heals in a radius around him the job would feel the same. It's toolkit is probably going to be fine in EW, but it's design has been a bummer for a couple expansions.

  9. I honestly don't get why the SCH memes even exist? Did they nerf SCH? Did they take something away from it? Because right now the job is really strong, so why wouldn't it be in Endwalker?

  10. Great discussion, loved it!

So from a more casual dungeon runner (not endgame raiding), I love the idea of hustling the party along more quickly and safely.

The other thing, I think of fights like the first boss of Amaurot with the falling building or scatter mechanics and how encounters like those would feel awesome being able to speed the team up and reduce the damage they’d take.

Other thing is the ability for casters (I guess less of an issue for SMN in EW) to move to a safe spot sooner and get a few more casts in.

The utility sounds great and I would love to have more fun, quirky, and unconventional forms of utility from SCH.

  11. Dear Ginger Prime….I must know: when you all are comparing Scholar to other healers are you doing all of the math that includes how much damage was prevented by the shields and how much was healed by the fairie plus the Scholars direct heals? I ask because I see other people only comparing the direct heals of each healer instead of calculating the total power of each healer's kit. Thanks in advance.
