HUGE FF14 Drama – World First Raiders CHEATING

Well yes of course we had to talk about it. HUGE DRAMA in FF14s Ultimate race to world first. With bans, players shamed into deleting their characters and Square Enix doing something they haven’t done in FF14s history.

  1. Good evening lovelies – This video is coming a little later than planned after Mike was dealing with family stuff last week. In this video we'll be doing a deep dive into the recent Ultimate RWF drama in FF14 and the issue of addons – we've put this into context not only for FF players but also if you're playing other MMOs like WoW.

And yes we're aware of the Gshade drama of course – Mike should be recording that tonight or in the morning so we'll have that up for you as well very soon. – Chris

  2. "the west are probably cheating so we need to cheat too"

West didn't cheat at all, they just used info gathered from other players and themselves

"They use addon's all the time"

  3. There are a lot of things that are "addons" that should just be features. But there's also a lot of "addons" that should definitely be bannable. It's up to the developer to implement the correct features and find ways not to hinder player experience and player gameplay until reassuring which is which, and then detect and ban the bad ones. But kudos to him, not everyone has a $5000 monitor to mimic that fov unknown had instead of implementing fov slider that's been wanted since 2.0…

  4. Blames Americans, assumes they’re all cheating so they had to. Blames unauthorized use to YouTube as to how they were exposed. Feuer really read that and thought that made it any better?

  5. These things should be made very, VERY clear before hand so that there is absolutely no doubt so these things don't happen. I don't really follow or watch these, let alone take part in ultimates, but from what little I do understand, it makes sense to me that streaming should be a requirement and not an option as it avoids so many issues like this.

It kind of makes me wonder though, isn't streaming kind of like a 3rd party app as well? Can't you share and watch your teammates streams to gain an advantage as well, and does the people who make the raids take that into account when designing the raids? I imagine they must, as it's pretty clear they allow you to stream, but I just wonder if they've explicitly said that it's okay.

  6. no point in cheating…everyone who plays the game if they put enough time into it can get all the best gear as long as they play the game.its not a big deal ..everyone can get the best gear. there is NO reason to cheat.

  7. They HAVE to have known they would be found out. I refuse to believe they didn’t know. Which makes one think, why did they do this? What point are they trying to make? Oh, oh wait, they already said it. They wanted to shine a light on western cheaters.

lol, fortunately I’m not as racist as those idiots. There are plenty of great players in Japan and I worry about them having to put up with such an extreme level of toxicity in the player base there (though I should knock on wood, for I know my own server could be next). Those idiots can’t pretend to claim they represent all players in their country, that’s ludicrous. By the same token, yes, some folks outside of Japan are cheating. Clearly not all of them though.

    Lord xenophobia is idiotically shortsighted.

In the end I agree with Preach’s comments though. Any player (in any location) who wants to claim a world first should have their entire team streaming so that everyone (no matter their location) can rest assured no cheats are being used.

Short of that? Honestly? I’m kind of with YoshiP on this. I hate that my favorite game is being rocked by racist garbage and it’s ensuing drama. If this is going to be the effect of high level raiding, I’d rather it didn’t exist.

  8. I haven't seen so much drama in FFXIV happening since the huge influx of players started after the 2022 boom. I am not going to point my finger just at WoW players because that is not fair, but I gotta say, with a huge influx of western players, this also brings an important influence on how these players enjoy their MMO's. Third party tools are a big example of this, whereas in other games TPT are used for everything as a crutch, legacy players in FFXIV have learned to play the game without them. Still, given enough time, this practice permeates the community and make it the new "normal", unless measures are taken so it doesn't go overboard (like it is happening now)

BUT IT WAS HIS OWN PEOPLE HIS OWN COUNTRYMEN THAT DID IT

as the meme goes "SHAMEFUR DISPRAY" good hopefully this opens the dev teams eyes: sterotypes exist and dont fall into them.

  10. Dirty little secret of the gaming industry is that the vast majority of people playing at the top use tools and cheats. Not always to play, but to figure out quickly how to play it best. Take an FPS game for instance, what's the best way to learn all the angles and the right timings? get wall hack for a month.

  11. Honestly, I wish Blizzard would start designing their game to not need addons. It's tiring to have to download 15 third party programs just to make you competitive in WoW.

  12. this is so dumb. From the community to the devs, this is one of many reasons why I stopped playing this game. Either completely ban add-ons or make peace with their existence. The only reason the devs don't outright ban add-ons is because they know the majority of their playerbase would revolt.

  13. Very nice, thorough coverage of the whole thing. Well done Preach and team.
It saddens me that people are so fervent in their goal to world first, that they risk destroying the entire thing. One should remember, that in the end, this is a game and it's about having fun. Obviously being in a highly competitive environment like world first will be incredibly demanding, and if someone is using tools to get ahead, then it is hard to argue against using it yourself. But in the end, if the community self-regulates and shames the cheaters, the fun can be kept intact. I am personally happy that JP (and the dev team of FFXIV by extension) is insistent on keeping the game addon/mod-free, and instead tries to improve the game.

I play both WoW and FFXIV, and I absolutely hate the addons required to do any content above easiest level. They are obnoxious clutter that usually fit poorly into the aesthetics of the game as well. But at the same time, it cannot be denied how necessary they are to WoW content. It makes the whole experience soured, because you either have to force some addons on yourself, or risk being an eternal crutch to your raiding team.

  14. The only difference is that these dummies streamed themselves using hacks, but still, I feel like if you use third party tools like Cactbot (which ALOT of streamers use and you'd be stupid to think they don't) you should sit the hell down and not pass judgment in any form or fashion. You're in direct violation of ToS either way you want to look at the situation. Third party tools are ZERO TOLERANCE, meaning ANY tools are considered not allowed. End of story. It doesn't matter what capacity you use them in, no means no and people don't seem to understand that.

Moving forward, World's First races will continue to be an absolute joke unless SE can ensure PC players aren't using third party tools and plugins to give them any form of upper-hand or advantage as compared to console players. If you do use them, don't tell anybody and definitely don't give hardened evidence by streaming.

I'm really looking forward to the responses to this comment because I know how this community gets on this subject. "UI mods shouldn't be punished in the same way as bots and blah blah blah." It's a third party tool and you probably got caught using them. You messed up, not SE. "It's not the same when it's just mods that affect my gameplay experience." Again, you probably got caught using them. You messed up, not SE. This is gonna be good LMAO

  15. All the other teams probably had a huge portion of their enjoyment stripped away when this team of cheaters took what was first believed to be"world first". SMH.

Really wish WoW would limit Addon usage as well. Wow raiding just seems like whoever has the best programmers to make custom addons and weakauras and those who spend the most gold buying items have a tremendous insurmountable advantage over the ones who don't. Not much of a race when there's only a handful of cars capable of the same top speed is it? With all that said this isn't to say that these players aren't very skilled at the game as well so please keep this in mind.

  17. Ff14 totally gets more testing than wow and fully sure they make sure they can beat the bosses, but they would have access to full knowledge of mechanics and ai triggers. Not saying addons should be supported just kinda skewed that they can beat it with technically extra knowledge. I do wish wow raids and mythic were not tuned around addons

  18. It gets even worse if you dig deep down the Rabbit hole.
Many Teams and Players use other 3rd party tools such as, Ping manipulation, Programs to practice specific mechanics etc.
And in the case of World first raiding it is very debatable, if having an Army of team members(that are not playing) to solve and assist in progress is morally right.
As competition increases, so have the methods of achieving any unfair advantage, Sports is a good example of this — it is really sad to see.

  19. World of Wacraft race for WF is not good at all, the best team are streaming because of sponsor/money they have so much leverage and money that most people can't even compete with them anyway. The logistic in wow is insane just on that alone most guild can't even imagine getting world first, most guild are not even in the same league. In FFXIV you don't need a lot to be able to compete and have a chance in a race for WF, almost everyone can if you have the skill. That why even if the best player in the world start playing legit/streaming they will get beaten by some random team off stream using third party (because every team who get world first nowday is using third party/datamining is been like that for a long time now) Dataming and third party has been around since Heavensward, you can't ask everyone to stream if they want to be recognise has leggit and even if everyone stream you still can hide third party without people knowing. Even discord can be used has a third party with bot calling mech.

  20. I think that my biggest problem with this video is how it leads into the discussion around the 4 min 50s mark with the suggestion that 'most' players use some kind of 'harmless' addon to make the game prettier or more immersive. To me, this implicit acceptance of addons or mods makes it fuzzier about where the line is for real cheating, as there are also 'harmless' raiding mods such as ones that call out who has which affliction which people argue that people already manually call out using voicecomm, hence they should be accepted.

If you want a level playing field in FF14 it should come as no surprise that you should level the playing field and accept zero addons and don't make up grey area excuses as they can be repurposed to justify other people's cheating. It might be harmless on some level, but the morality of it should be clear. It is not up to debate, obey the game's TOS.

  21. The biggest issue is ffxivs half assed philosophy on addons where they want to pretend some are ok and some aren’t without establishing any kind of actual rules other than “no addons”

This half assedness just leads to confusion and people constantly pushing what they can get away with especially when yoshi p for unknown reasons goes out of his way to remind players that they have no way of tracking or knowing about addon usage. Like why tf would you even say that let alone repeat it 😂 if you don’t want people using them then Put the fear of god in them for even thinking of using them. Solved.

Honestly all this addon drama that has been a backdrop to the ffxiv community for years is the devs fault. Get your shit together and either change your policy or adhere to it as written. No don’t ask don’t tell bullshit

You don’t get to say one thing, do the opposite, then voice disappointment when halfassed wishy washy treatment of policy makes people push what they can get away with more and more.

Buck up and crack down or stop enforcing it the in between shit isn’t working obviously
