I am super excited for this next expansion! We need a break from saving the universe from Endsinger & the End Days! We still have to complete The Twelve storyline! Also, how & why is Zero from the 13th on the 1st! How the heck did she get there!? I am stoked for the two new jobs & I really hope Kryle is the new magic dps job! I also want them to add Gleaners as a reputation questline! Also, I would like if we could officially join The Gleaners & do world quests for them like an explorer! We will see though & I am happy for the next expansion!
People also have to understand that the Endwalker trailer was epic because we got ALL of it at once. Historically they show the trailer in pieces, part 1 in US, part 2 in Europe, and part 3 in Japan.
Ya know, if it were ANY other game, I might question whether this was going to be sufficiently epic or not. Yoshi-P and the team have earned better than that. I have a lot of confidence in them, and I am certain this expansion will be great!
I absolutely agree. The stakes just getting to more and more ridiculous heights is one of the (many) reasons I stopped playing WoW. And we really need a palate cleanser after all of the grimdark. And is it me, or is Estinien going all Garrus Vakarian with a facial scar (that chicks presumably dig)?
they complain about the story but we all know they're just buried in ERP clubs all the time
anyway, it's straight up foolish to think that CBU3 of all devs is going to make an entire expansion (even just the first patch) a lighthearted romp through tropical paradise; safe to say 7.0 will surely set up all kinds of ominous loose ends and foreshadowing
this is what bugs me about most western entertainment "communities"; it's like 95% of the people in them aren't even paying attention to what they consume
My problem is not that this expansion is a new beginning for a new era, my problem is why are we traveling again with the scion I’m sorry but a lot of their stories are already done. I can understand having 2-3 of them with us specifically I prefer enstinien and graha’tia and maybe alphanaud but everyone else is used up.
The only reason they are there is I think yoshipi is not confident enough in where he wants to take the story. I hope I’m wrong but he needs to remember the story is one of the big reason ppl play the game.
Yoshi P. wants us to go off to find the ultimate treasure . . . . one piece . . .
My biggest issue is they did this low stakes vibe with 6.1, before pivoting to another world-ending threat. Dawntrail feels like a step backwards that it should've been 6.x, while the void stuff should've been a fully fleshed out expansion with original characters
It's important to reset once in a while, otherwise just look what happened to WoW's story. One would think that after expansions of great story narrations people would at least give them the benefit of doubt. I for one think it'll be great, and for those complaining for nothing on Reddit? I can only say I am glad I don't use Reddit anymore lol
Every good story needs its beach episode. I'm ok with this. The Dawntrail teaser trailer didn't wow me like EW and especially ShB did for me, but I understand the need for a lighter toned story. Not every story can be a world ending saga of epic proportions. Besides, it would get boring if every expansion is the same thing, just with a different skin. I'm all for this, even if it's not my most favourite, simply because variety is necessary for ultimate growth, success, and avoiding stagnation.
Plus, it's not like this "vacation" is going to be an easy ride for out intrepid heroes anyway.
Ive only finished endwalker this year. This feels like one of those obligatory beach anime episodes in between arcs. Honestly i could use the break from depression 😭
I am not sure if the vacation vibes are where ide want to see it headed but i think what Emet said before disapearing again, thats what i want. Be an adventurer again, not the hero.
People who said this expansion had no stake act like it the expansion won't escalate at some point. ARR starts as a jolly adventure then ends with you as a fugitive. We've finished climbing a mountain now we're climbing a new one
I've always viewed my WoL as just an adventurer. I'm also really into lore. I see a lot of people fall into the trap of, "I'm a god killer, why should I be doing menial tasks." I like the sort of narrative that the game makes for the WoL not being egocentric. Helping because people need it. Then again, I also enjoyed Stormblood quite a lot. The psychological effects of war and occupation on people. Even if whatever we find in the New World isn't world ending, the threat or challenges it presents could still be very impactful on peoples lives. Werlyt was very compelling but didn't exactly have world shattering implications.
Besides, if we are getting into more adventures than just fighting progressively more powerful gods, hopefully that also includes new gameplay innovations. New mini games or mechanics. Seeing Mamool Ja makes me think of Besieged from FFXI's Treasures of Aht Urghan expansion. Or maybe something like the Seekers of Adoulin expansion(which was also about colonizing a new land) that had Coalitions which were kind of like factions with which you could work and build reputations. Or maybe a conquest or Campaign, where players can have direct effect on certain zones depending on player activity. Now I'm just being nostalgic for FFXI… But I think it would be neat to have some updated and reimagined versions of some of FFXI's systems I enjoyed in FFXIV.
But I don't want my character whose narrative is being an adventurer to actually go adventuring. Even Azem clearly just liked saving low-poly grapes and didn't travel or learn about cultures.
one thing a lot of poeple are missing, this is NOT the
completedDawntrail cinematic, they were release more at the next fanfestIt doesn't really take a 7 minute video to say…"stupid people gonna stupid"
First were missing over 2 min of trailer. Second the new world allows for a new series of problems to be introduced while explaning why we have never heard of them.
This is the first trailer of 4. They're just being silly and are used to the final one.
Me hoping to see new and old chacters and if right Certain dialogue or play a part in 2 what will happen with
Our MC's main goal from the first quest was ADVENTURE. Wether thats world ending, local, for funsies, etc. Thats the main thread of the story <3
I'm seriously so excited for Dawntrail! I can hardly wait. ☺️
Quaz you are so amazing! TY!
I can already see it…
"Hey this place looks fun and mostly friendly….they even got a mayan looking Calendar. Oh bummer, it's about to end and no one brought a new one"
This is just going back to ARR, Heavensward, and Stormblood scale where the threat is the size of the country/continent, which is fine. We literally just averted a universal threat in Endwalker, and are currently averting a worldwide threat similar to Shadowbringers in the Void MSQ stuff- to keep at that level would be absolutely silly and retroactively make the stakes of that expansion seem less special.
Remember how good Heavensward was story wise? The stakes were basically the survival of Ishgard… and that was it. Chances are Dawntrail will have Tural at stake in a similar way. People who think there will be no conflict or that this is just a vacation arc are actually just dumb…
I thought the trailer was pretty good, only thing that disappointed me was seeing the same characters. I was hoping to meet a new group of people and taking a break from the scions.
Emet also told us to explore more of the world than just where we've been so far. I'm looking forward to see what the rest of the world looks like.
I played since 1.0 it's about time I get a vacation. I spent the last like decade saving the world let me have a break for one expansion please
We gonna find El Dorado!
If poeple were to base each expansion on first third of the trailer, then:
Shadowbringers would be about depressed walking throught the desert until angel shows up. Doesn't sound ver fun.
And Endwalker would be about fighting a monster in upper La Noscea. That is old content!
SMH. Some people are really dumb.
Where does a story start?
At the beginning.
people forget the wol has always been an adventurer first. Not all adventures are dealing with world ending threats another aspect is exploring the unknown and seeing places and experiencing new things. This expansion is just focusing more on the other half of adventuring.
FFXIV needs to fix the combat and make it more ARPG style lol
Imagine Squareenix makes a Isometric ARPG game based on the FF lore and a love letter to Diablo Games like FFXIV is to WoW. A nice well done Live Service game, but very fair in the store and it's not being at all pay to win and just sell cosmetics simular to PoE and Diablo IV. It would be cool to have a MMO-like style Final Fantasy Theme Isometric game and it kind of simular to lost ark combat and the model of the game, but not gate keeping or road blocks, but much a lot of the freedom of FFXIV has. Imagine a fast paste action based RPG game with the nice lore of FF games with a lot of the weapons and gear of FF and they have the lore to make very unique and cool dungeons, a nice open world and of course weapons and gear and loot. Instead of gold you earn gils etc. I don't understand why squareenix never made a Isometric ARPG game and they can totally do it and it would extremely sell well. Since ARPG are quite popular now it's time for them to do this and I sure be glad to play it in a snap.
The people that are complaining haven't watched enough Anime in the best. You can't just keep escalating, or you Fall into the trap of powerlevels going cocoooo insane. We just saved all of existence? Well, now we are going to save all of existence + 2! No, the Stakes must be brought back, perhaps made emotional, so we care despite it being less of a threat to… Everything.
It's important to have a moment to rest and relax so that the hype moments have their hype. You need moments of peace, so that moments of tension have impact, as that peace is taken away from you.
Wait… did some of those people that commented not watch YoshiP's keynote?
Do they know that this is the very first teaser trailer and not the full trailer?
And they have it all wrong… if this is the beginning of a new journey, the trailer should be compared to 2.0's teaser trailer and not with shadowbringers or endwalker.
Raiders shouldn't care much since the raids and trials will be challenging.
Casual players like me shouldn't care. We're laid back and know the value of chilling in the game.
As for the rest, while the theme of Dawntrail doesn't look as riveting as Shadowbringers or Endwalker, why does it matter?
Good storytelling isn't just a steep cliff we climb. We need valleys. And I don't mean bad content. A story isn't considered bad because it's a rollercoaster, right?
Everyone loves those (well most do). Would you pay for a glorified elevator on rails? Nah. The exciting parts are when we go down.
We need to go down so we can climb. Also this expansion begins the next big climb.
Have faith and play!
Considering that 5.0 had the WoL fighting to save two worlds and 6.0 had the WoL fighting to save ALL LIFE IN THE UNIVERSE. It's really nice that Erenville asks us, "Enjoying yourself for a change?" Because after the last few expansions the WoL needs a break.
They should've had another trailer where the world was ending and the WoL shrugs at the camera and says, “Whoa, here we go again! Believe it!” That would pretty much get all the ADHD weebs who like terribly paced storytelling onboard.
