Location: Labyrinthos
Fishing Hole: The Mover Beta
Bait: Mayfly
Conditions: 22:00 – 02:00, Rain into Fair Skies
Folklore Tome: Ilsabard and the Northern Empty
Minimum Gathering: 3,060

📋Prep
Arrive early to the Mover Beta. Cast out and catch Macrobrachium Lar, a long ! bite. Use Surface Slap and then Chum, then wait until the window opens before casting out again.

Prep here really just requires a Surface Slap and a pre-Chum and that’s about it. Onyx Knifefish’s window is short enough that you don’t need to really prep any Angler’s Art stacks. Alternative slaps would be Darksteel Knifefish or Blowgun, as both bite commonly. Macrobrachium Lar though bites the most often on Mayfly and the longest bite in the hole. By removing it, it’s more likely we’ll get a shorter bite, and bite sooner than when Onyx Knifefish will bite. This means we’ll fail faster, meaning we can cast out again sooner, and thus, get more chances at the fish.

🎣Catching Onyx Knifefish
Once the window opens (either at 22:00 or 0:00) cast back out. Onyx Knifefish bites at exactly 19s with a macro timer without chum, or 11s with Chum. if you don’t have a bite by 12s (19s without Chum), use Hook to reel in, use Chum, then cast out again. Since we slapped Macrobachium Lar, we’re more likely to get the shorter bites (pre 19s), and make it so that Onyx Knifefish is the longest bite in the hole (technically Darksteel can be a bit longer, but this isn’t an issue). Once you get a !!! bite, use Hook to attempt to reel in Onyx Knifefish.
